20 years of Innovation
Innovation plays an integral part in Marels position as a leading provider of grading solutions. Since 1985, with the introduction of the first high-tech scale, Marel has been dedicated to help increase the productivity of its customers. Some 20 years later, the company now introduces the advanced Sure Track System.

MPS OptiPack for SureTrack System

MPS OptiPack is the key element in making the SureTrack System as user friendly as possible. OptiPack controls product specifications, orders, labelling, boxing, icing and packing. The grading process is order oriented and several customers can hold orders in the system simultaneously. New orders can be defined and priorities changed during processing. The OptiPack controls the sizes of boxes needed and the weight to be packed. The system monitors weighing accuracy and allows the SureTrack System to deliver more than one batch size at the same time. The software provides full traceability with an automated labelling process, making it possible to trace the product from the customer back to the harvesting pond.

Up & Running - SinkaBerg Hansen

AS

"Before we installed the Sure Track System all salmon was graded manually. The main benefit of this new automated system is increased capacity and better utilization of man-hours. The new system can handle 60 fish per minute, and the capacity can be increased to 120 fish per minute by adding infeed stations. The MPS OptiPack ordering system has been of great benefit in handling all orders. With the system we can now increase our production and will be processing up to 70 tons of graded fish per 8 hours." Finn Sinkaberg, Director of SinkaBerg Hansen, Norway.

On the Right Track

The SureTrack system uses an innovative technique to transfer whole salmon, that ensures fast and accurate grading of raw material while keeping handling to a minimum. Comprised of a quality inspection station, infeed station and a rotating bin grading system, SureTrack provides accurate weighing that meets the strictest production requirements. The SureTrack technology weighs the product in a static weighing bin that then releases product of a known weight and quality grade into a transfer bin that moves the product into a collecting bin or tubs where the batches are created. The transfer bins are then reused to move complete batches to automatic boxing stations. This innovative method of reusing the transfer bins eliminates the need for traditional takeaway conveyors.

M3000 Controller and Software

The Marel M3000 graphical colour controller makes it easy for the operator to define grading programs and monitor the process with the MPS Grading Software. The software is used to collect grading data and monitor the grading process including yield and throughput.

The product is fed manually into the system by a quality inspector who directs the product into an automatic in-feed scale, after pushing a button to indicate the product quality.

Grading

The innovative rotating bin system grades the salmon with minimum handling. Static weighing bins, batch collecting bins and rotating transfer bins grade the salmon fast and accurately.

Boxing Transfer bins

When the batch is completed the transfer bin is reused to transfere the batch into boxes.

The automatic boxing system delivers the batch into the correct box. The system can handle multible box types at the same time.

Bulk batching

The product can be batched directly into tubs. Short drop ensures better product handling and new gates are easily added.

Automatic take-away

The take-away removes the box from the boxing station and tranferes it to the CheckWeigher.

Check weighing

The CheckWeigher rejects the boxes that are out of range to a manual rework station. The CheckWeigher is integrated into the Marel Production System (MPS).

Labeling

The labelling station automatically labels each box with batch and order information.

Ice dosing

The IceDoser drops the appropriate dose of ice into the box, based on order and transportation needed.
