ACTIVITY 2

Describe the picture.

What can you infer from the picture?

The picture shows a skeletal structure of a human. A skeletal structure is made up of skeletons and
is composed of bones which are connected to each other. Bones have numerous types and they are the ones
who stack up for the sake of our body’s structure and protection specifically our positioning, for the
protection of our organ system, and they are also the ones who produce most of our body’s blood cells.
In a broader way of inferring, the picture talks about our skeletal system and a reminder that we
must take care of it. Our skeletal system (bones) must be healthy, it maybe our inner body protection but
we still need to fortify it. In some ways we could help our skeletal system by: wearing protective gears if
needed; eating and drinking healthy foods (milk is the most recommended because it gives calcium to our
bones); and exercising.
For some additional information, an adult is composed of 206 bones while a child is composed of
300 bones. They are different in some ways, like for the adult bones, it has larger structure and less flexible,
and the other one, a child’s bones is smaller and more flexible.
In overall, bones are the ones who serve as our leverage of locomotion and our inner organ system
protection so we must protect it at all cost.

REFLECTION PAPER
Reflection Paper:
Q& A: What do you think is the importance or significance of learning the skeletal system in physical
education?

Mainly for the health awareness and the safety of our body.
Skeletal system is an organ system inside a human body that is composed of bones which has different
physiological and structural functions like: it protects different kinds of organelles inside our body with
different uses, it is also the one who mostly contribute in the production of our blood, it provides body
strengthening, and body motion. The importance of learning the skeletal system in the field of physical
education are: skeletal system serves as our leverage for locomotion because joints and our muscles are
attached to it, and as we all know physical education is the preparation of our body in which moving is
needed.
In addition, skeletal system serves as a human body’s internal framework that protects our organ
system, such as our brain (nervous system), lungs (respiratory system), and heart (cardiovascular system).
Our brain is protected by a skeleton called skull, it has different classifications depending on their parts to
cover, while our heart and lungs are covered by the ribcage. As we all know these organs are vital which
can cause a lot of organ malfunction if left unprotected.
The bones inside a skeletal system meet up at a certain joint which helps our body be able to move
flexibly and by that we would know how important bones are in our physical education. Bones are built up
of calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, and minerals which contributes to the strengthening, blood flow,
and the flexibility of our body.
It is so fascinating to know that such system occurs within our body so we must be grateful for it
because it simply helps us to stay alive, and for me as a student I will do the best just take care of my body
because I believe in the saying “health is wealth”.
In this case, I conclude that skeletal system plays a huge role in our body in the field of physical
education because it is the one builds our body’s inner foundation for us to be prepared in some physical
activities, so by that, we should also learn how to take care of it because it is important to us.
