Topic 1: FAMILY

1. Do you live in a big or small family? How many people are there in your family?

2. How many brothers and sisters do you have?

No one, I’m only child.

3. Are your brothers and sisters older or younger? Where are you in the family?

I’m the only child. So, I’m no one

4. Can you say something about your immediate and extended family?

There’s 3 people in my family, my parents and me. My dad is a doctor, my mother is


a teacher. They work far from home, and only come home in weekend, so I’m not
very often meet them.

5. How often do you see your family?

Not very often, my parents work far from home and they come home in only
weekend. So I meet them once a week.

6. What do you like doing when you spend time with your family?

I like to spend my time cooking with my parents, they’re both good at cooking, and so
many dishes I want to learn from them.

7. Who is the person you are close the most in your family?

My mom (always my mom). She’s busy person but whenever she has free time, my
mother often spend her time with me, cooking, talking or doing housework together
and so many things else. In short, I really really love my mom.

Topic 2: HOMETOWN

8. Where do you come from?

I came from Dong Hoa town, Phu Yen province, a beautiful place.
9. Can you describe your town or city to me?

Phu Yen is a coastal province. We have many beautiful beaches, vast fields, amazing
tourist attractions with friendly, good hearted people. When you come here, you can
try lots of specialities such as Tuna eyes, Saltwater chicken, Hoa Da rice paper,…
they’re very tasty. One more, the Mui Dien lighthouse is one of the earliest place you
can see sunrise in VN, it will be a wonderful experience in your life if you have a
chance here. Oh, I hope to see all of you in my hometown.

10. What do you like about the area where you live?

The people. Almost people in my area are farmers. They live a very very normal life.
But the important thing that make me love them is they’re so kind n good-hearted. If
you from another place and you come here, you’ll feel like this is really your second
hometown. Everyone treat with others like we are in a big family. That’s why I love
this place, and I think I’m so lucky to stay here.

11. What things in your town or city do you not like?

I don’t like the weather. Phu Yen is in the central of VN. The spring and the autumn, I
have nothing to talk about, they’re good. But in the summer, it’s so hot, and in the
winter, it’s so cold. And because the central of VN, there so many storms every years,
strong storms. The storms often happen in the winter, they destroy everythings, make
floods, landslide, and so many terrible problems. I hope that the nature makes fewer
disaster, so the people in my hometown can have a better life.

12. How is the area changing?

My hometown is developing day by day (it’s good thing). The personal income are
increasing, everyone have a better life. More and more people come here for traveling,
staying or especially investing. I hope that in the early future, my hometown will be
one of the most liveable place for living.

13. How are the people living in your town or city?

As I know, there’re more than 1 hundred thousands people in my town. Most of them
are workers. They work in the factories, because my hometown is a industry city, so
many people has good income, and a good life.
14. What do people in your region do in their free time?

In free time, almost people in my region choose to hanging out, meet their friends,
someone like to drink beer, sing karaoke. The younger like to play sports or go to
entertainment centers, so many activities.

15. What do you think visitors to your region should see? Why?

If you have a chance to come here, I higtly recommend to you to go to the lighthouse,
in the early morning. This is the ealiest place you can see sunrise in VN. N trust me,
it’s will be one of the most amazing experience in your life.

I’m afraid not. But you come here I recommend you to go the lighthouse, in the early

Topic 3:FREE TIME

16. How much spare time do you have at university? Is it enough for you?

I often have 30 minutes freetime between 2 subjects. I think it’s enough for me to take
a rest, reset my mind, and ready for the next activities.

17. How do you spend your free time? / What do you like to do in your leisure?

I have so many choices in my free time. Playing sports, watching films, meeting my
friends, playings video games,…But I often play sports and hang out with my friends.
Usually 1-2 hours everydays

18. What do you usually do when you have a break at university?

The breaktime in university is not really long, so I choose to eat fastfood, read some
news, or prepare for the next lesson.

19. Do you need more break time during the day at university?

No, I think so. It’s enough for me to take a rest and prepare for the next activities
20. With whom do you prefer to spend your free time, your family or your friends?

It’s difficult question. ‘cause my parents work far from home, so I’d like to spend my
free time with my family in the weekend. N in other days, I spend my time for myself
or for my friends

21. Do you want to participate in a club or a volunteer activity if you have more free
time?

If I have more free time, I will choose to participate in a club. I think it will be a good
time for me to develop myself in a club. There’re more people and more knowledge I
want to learn.

22. Do you like doing sport in your free time? What sports are you playing now?

I very like to playing sport in my free time, especially is volleyball. It’s an amazing
sport with 12 players, can help you feel so cheery after a hardworking day.

Topic 4: Extreme Sports

23. Name some popular extreme sports in Vietnam?

In VN, I know highwire, zipline, flyboard, kayak rowing, surfing on the ocean, or
terrain racing.

24. Have you ever done any extreme sport? What extreme sports do you want to try?
Why?

No, I’m not a very intrepid person. But if I have a chance, I wanny try skydiving. I
really want to fly, and the most important, I think it’s the least dangerous sport in all
of extreme sport
Topic 5 : FOOD,SPECIALITY FOOD

25. What specialties in Vietnam have you ever eaten?

I have eaten Banh Mi, Pho, Spring roll, and so many else. They’re all delicious.

26. What specialties in Vietnam have you never eaten and want to try?

Hoi An chicken rice, this one. I have been to Hoi An a few times, but never have a
chance to eat this dish. I heard that this speciality is very very tasty. If I go to Hoi An
again, I really want to try this one, can’t wait.

27. How often do you cook? What food can you cook?

I cook everydays, I stay alone, my parents work far from home. So many food I can
cook, soups, rice, grills. But, the most, I like to to make mixed dish, It’s easy but
delicious, my mom taught me how to make it, and I usually serve this food in
weekend, when my parents come home.

28. What dish does your mother usually cook for the family union?

In the family union, my mother often cook Pho for everybody. It’s a traditional food,
and my mom cook it so well. I really like this food, and whenever my parents come
home, I know I will have a very tasty dish today.

29. How often do you eat out?

Rarely, I think cooking at home is better. It’s cheap, healthy, and convenient.

30. If you can, do you want to grow food at home?

Yes, I’d like to. I think grow food at home is cheaper, heathier, and you can get the
food whener you want, and the most important, growing something is amazing.

31. Where do you prefer to go shopping for food? At a supermarket or a open-air


market? Why?

I prefer to go shopping for food at a supermarket because it’s convenient, better


quality, healthier and variaty of foods.

I often spend 1-2 hours shopping a week, in the weekend. That’s enough for me to
buy everything I need

34. Do you prefer to pay things with cash, with cheque, by credit card or by bank
transfer? Why?

I prefer to pay things by bank transfer. Because I often shopping in supermarket. It’s
convenient, fast, and safe.

35. Do you prefer to keep your money in a bank account? Why (not)?

I want to keep my money in a bank account. It’s convenient and safe if you want to
keep many money. You can use it to pay things in everywhere, everywhen, and the
most important is it’s make our life easier.
