Abstract
A Communication satellite is an artificial satellite the relays and
amplifies radio telecommunications signals via a transponder; it
creates a communication channel between a source transmitter
and a receiver at different locations on the Earth.Communication
Satellites are used for television, telephone, radio, internet and
military applications.
Introduction
If the communication takes palce between
any two earth stations through a
satellite, then it is called as satellite
communication.In this
communication,electromagnetic waves are
used as carrier signals. These signals carry
information such as voice, video or any other
data between ground and space and vice-
versa.
Soviet Union had launched the worid’s first artificial satellite
named,Sputnik 1 in 1957.Nearly after 18 years,India also launched
the artificial satellite named,Aryabhata in 1975.
How does it works
The process begins at an earth station an installation
designed to transmit and receive signals from a satellite in
orbit around earth.
Earth stations send information in the form of high
powered,high frequency(GHz)signals to satellites which
receives and retransmit the signals back to earth where
they are received by other stations in the coverage area of
the satellite.
The two stations can use a satellite as relay station for
their communication
One Earth station sends a
transmission to the satellite
.This is called a Uplink.
