I connect subject
matter to real life
contexts as much as I
can. For example, we
did a social studies
Standard 1 CSTP: Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning
lesson about
resources, and we
learned about the
resources we have in
our communities, we
then compared those
to other areas and
communities. This
way students
connected real life to
what was being
taught.
I promote critical
thinking through
reflection and inquiry. We
do self-assessments to
Evidence reflect whether the
standard taught was met
by the student. Students
use face emoji to share
how they feel about their
mastery. This way I can
engage the student and
have them start taking
proactive roles in their
learning.
I continue to support
critical thinking and
problem solving in the
classroom. We always
have probing questions
that relate to the lesson.
Students get to share out
their answers in break
out rooms to critically
discuss what was learned.

I monitor student
learning in a variety of
ways. I check Star 360
scores, I check OLS
quizzes, informal
assessments and exit
tickets. I also use pre and
post test to see trends in
their learning. Based on
all this data I change
instructional strategies
and or create small group
Standard 1 CSTP: Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning
sessions to support all
learners.
