Getting started
Open the project in After Effects:

Go to File – Open Project and select the

.aep-File that you have downloaded along
with this tutorial.

The Project will load into After Effects. If there appears an error for missing Typefaces
(Fonts), take a look at the separate readme-file. There you will find Downloadlinks to the
Typefaces used in the project.

Importing your footage:

To import your footage (your

photos, video, audio and logos)
you want to use in this project, go
to File – Import – File... and choose
your media-files in the new window
that opens up.

After that, you find your imported

media in the Project Window:
Insert your footage
To place your footage in the project, go to the project window and toggle down the folder
called EDIT THESE COMPS. In there, you should find another folder called PUT
FOOTAGE HERE. Inside this folder, you find all the compositions where you can place
your footage inside:

Double-click on a Footage
Comp, and it will open up in
the timeline. Click and drag
your imported media into the
timeline to place it in that
composition.

You can reposition it in the preview window. Also, you can rescale your footage by
selecting it in the timeline and then hitting the letter "S" on your keyboard. That reveals the
Scale-Parameter and lets you rescale your footage to the correct size.

Repeat this for every Footage Composition. If you are unsure which Footage Composition
is used in which part of the Animation, go to the RENDER COMP and take a look at the
final animation, and look where your just imported footage appears.

Quick Note:
Most of the time, the Footage Comps are numbered in the same order as they appear in the animation. i.e.
Footage1 is shown first, then Footage2 etc.
Edit the texts
To edit the texts in the project, go to the project window and toogle down the folder called
EDIT THESE COMPS. In there, you should find another folder called EDIT THESE
TEXTS. Inside this folder, you find all the compositions where you can edit the texts inside:

Double-click on a Text-Comp, and it will open up in the timeline.

Make sure the timeline cursor is set inside the comp and you can read the text in the
preview window.
Double-Click on the text layer and you can edit it in the preview window.
If you want, you can change the typeface and other stuff in the Character Window.

Repeat this for all text comps.

Insert Audio
If you have purchased the audio we used in the preview, import it like any other media file
and place it in the composition called "Put Sound here". (You find the link to that audio in
the seperate readme-file).

This will shorten down the audio to fit the length of the Project.

If you want to use another Sound than the one we used in the preview, do not drag it in
the Put Sound here Composition. Instead, place it in the RENDER COMP.
Change the look
By now you have already inserted your own footages and texts. Time to make some last
changes before we render out a final video.
Go to the project window and double-click on the Composition called RENDER COMP.

Select the Layer called Control Layer and take a look at the Effect Controls window.
You will see some parameters to change in the animation (second screenshot).

(If you cannot see the Effect Controls window, make sure you have it activated. To do this,
go to the main menu and click on Window. A drop down menu opens up and you can make
sure that Effect Controls is checked )

Explanations for the parameters:

Light Leaks Opacity: Set the amount of Light Leaks you want to have over your footage.
Set it to 0 to have no light leaks at all.

BG Color: Change the Background Color. Click on the Color-Bar and select a new color in
the window that opens up.
Render your video
Double-Click on the RENDER COMP to open it in the timeline.

After that, go to Composition – Add to Render Queue and the Render Queue will open in
the timeline window with the new Render Job added to it.

Make sure the Render Settings are set to Best Settings.

Click on whatever is written right to the Output Module and a new window will open up. In
that window, you can change the codec and file format. Also, if you have used sound in
this project, make sure you activate Audio Output at the bottom of that new window. Else
your video will be mute.

Last, click on whatever is written right to the "Output to" text and set the folder where you
want your video to be saved in.

When you have set everything to your needs, click Render and wait for it to finish.
Depending on the project as well as your computer specs, this can take some time.
