Dear Emily Huang:

We are pleased to offer you part time employment as Skate Instructor with the Recreation Division,
Community Services Department, City of Brampton effective September 7, 2023 to January 7, 2024. In
the event that your part-time employment is extended by the City, the terms of this employment
agreement will continue to apply.

You will report to the position of Recreation Programmer currently occupied by the writer, and perform
the duties as outlined in the attached job description.

Compensation and Benefits

Your services will be compensated for on a bi-weekly basis in accordance with the timesheets submitted
by the Division at the rate of $18.22 per hour. Available hours of work are based on operational needs
and are not guaranteed. Part-time employees are limited to working twenty-four (24) variable hours per
week.

The Corporation may, during defined periods of time within a calendar year, assign you work hours
greater than twenty-four (24) hours per week up to a maximum of forty-four (44) hours per week

All deductions required by law shall be made on your paycheque, which shall include E.I., C.P.P. and
Income Tax.

Vacation pay shall be provided as per the Employment Standards Act, 2000, and will be paid with each
pay period. You will also be paid for public holidays and overtime in accordance with the Employment
Standards Act, 2000.

The Corporation will provide coverage for Workplace Safety & Insurance and liability insurance.

The Corporation may subsidize your parking at a city parking facility in accordance with Corporate
Policy. It is understo~ that the Corporation may terminate any such arrangement at any time. (if
applicable)

Should you be required to use your own vehicle on City business you will be compensated at the current
corporate kilometre rate. Please check with your Insurance Company regarding your vehicle policy
should you receive such compensation.

The Corporation shall not be responsible for the provision of any other employment benefits.

Required Training/Certifications for Position

As discussed during your interview, it is a condition of your employment and a requirement of your job
duties that you obtain the following certifications/training, at your own expense (if applicable), within one
(1) month of your effective date of hire.

• First Aid/CPR C with AED

In the event that you have not completed the above training or certification and provided the City with
proof of course completion within the required one (1) month period, the City will have the right to
terminate your employment without further notice.

Dismissal/Resignation/Lay-off and Discipline

In the event that it becomes necessary to terminate your employment without cause at any time either
before you commence employment or during the term of your employment, the City will provide you with
such notice (or payment in lieu of notice), severance pay, if owing, accrued vacation pay, unpaid wages
to the date of your dismissal and any other compensation or benefit continuation that may be required
to meet the requirements of the Employment Standards Act, 2000. In the event that your contract is not
extended, your employment with the City will end upon the expiry of this agreement with no further
notice obligations owed to you by the City.

You understand and agree that the City has no obligation to make any additional payments to you or to
provide you with any additional notice upon termination other than those required to satisfy your
entitlements under the Employment Standards Act, 2000, and you hereby waive any entitlement or claim
to any payments other than provided for in the above paragraph.

Your employment may be terminated by the City at any time without notice, compensation or benefit
continuation (except as may be required under the Employment Standards Act, 2000) for cause. The
term "cause" will include a material breach of the provisions of this Agreement and your failure to obtain
the necessary training/certifications required for this position.

You may terminate your employment by giving two (2) weeks' notice in writing to the City.

The City reserves the right to place you on temporary lay-off should the operational needs of the City
require a reduction in its workforce.

The City reserves the right to discipline you in accordance with its policies and procedures. Specifically,
the City reserves the right to use progressive discipline, including suspension, where appropriate in the
circumstances. ·

We take this opportunity to inform you that all confidential information acquired by you during your
employment remains the property of the City of Brampton. Any private use by you of that information
during your employment or after is unlawful.

All employees are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, all Corporate Information Technology
Standards and be familiar with the Information Technology Use Policy and Supporting Procedure
Document. The Corporation may change these policies and procedures from time to time at the
Corporation's discretion.

Please confirm your acceptance of these terms of employment by signing where indicated below and
returning this letter to us within seven (7) days upon receipt.

my obligation to obtain and maintain the training and certifications set out in this letter as a condition of
continued employment. I have also had the opportunity to get legal advice on the terms of my
employment.
