Method 1: Observation

In our free time, we decided to watch a few videos in order

to get some inspirations when we came upon a video about a
satisfying time lapse of an okra. And we decided to pick that
video as an inspiration and went on to watch it to observe how
many days it will take to reach the stage of leaf development
and how many days for the plant to reach the fruit
development stage. And that video shows that it was exactly 7
and 115 days to reach both stages. Was it really that fast? Is
there a plant that can grow faster than the okra?

Method 2: Research

In able find out if there really was a plant that can be a faster
grower than the okra, we decided to use the method of
researching, which was pretty helpful for us. As I researched,
I saw a website saying that the chili plant also grows a sprout
after 7 days of planting, but fully grows after 75 days which is
faster than the okra plant. So we chose the chili plant to be the
okra’s competitor since they have the same days of leaf
development. But as we researched further, we saw that some
websites say that okra grows until a 115 days while others
says that it will only take 2 months until it’s full grown, if it’s
two months, then it will take 60 days or less for it to grow. We
also researched how many seeds does it take to grow an okra
and a sili, and the websites says that okra needs 2 to 3 seeds,
while the sili plant needs only 1 seed.

Method 3: Hypothesis
In our opinion, we think that the okra plant will be much
taller and can be a faster grower than the sili plant like we saw
in the video. We also watched a sili time lapse video and we
saw that sili does starts to grow at 7 days but it takes time to
grow much taller.
Method 4: Test
Materials used: Caretaker 1’s Materials

Caretaker’s 2 Materials
Day 1- Okra
Since this is day 1 for planting the okra, nothing
happened so far. After putting 2 seeds inside the soil, I
sprayed it 15 times with water. This was also planted on
the date of 9-8-2023
Day 1- Sili
Janima also planted at the same time and date when I
planted mine. The bad news, is that she did not
researched how many seeds for a sili to grow and that
she put about 4-6 seeds in her pot.
Week 1-Okra
As you can see, this plant has already grown a sprout
in a week after giving water and care just like the
website that we researched back then.
Week 1-sili
In week one, Janima’s plant also grew a day earlier
than mine. In the picture given, we can see that her
chilies were a little bit longer than my okra.
Week 2- Okra
After another week, the okra once again had a great
progress. It grew an inch taller than it was in week one
and so did the sili plant.
Week 2- Sili
But we can see that the sili plant was a bit shorter
than the okra like it’s taking time to process again.
Week 3- Okra
After another week, my plant grew faster until it
looked like this. This time, the plant now looks like it’s
already two stems instead of one.
Week 3- Sili
While the okra is growing, the sili plant just kept
producing more leaves but not long enough to reach the
okra’s height.
Week 4- Okra
As you can see, the stems grow higher, the leaves
turned into yellowish green and it looks like there is
another sprout growing in the sides of the pot. And still
no flower or fruit is found.
Week 4- Sili
As Janima’s plant grow, we can see that there was a
huge difference between week 3 and week 4. The leaves
also turn into yellowish green into a much yellowish
color.
Method 5: Analyze

The data we have gathered from the test shows that we

planted the two seeds and observed them for 4 weeks to see
which plant grows faster, from here, we could see that from
week 1, plenty of sili plants grew from the soul, while an okra
sapling grew, but not fully sprouted.
On week 2, the sili plant grew more sprouts with the
appearance of stalks, as the okra also grew a stalk, but was
much taller than the sili.
Up to week 4, the okra grew much taller, its leaves much
larger, while the sili shorter, yet mote leafy and vibrant than
the okra.

Method 6: Conclude
Since our test is now done, we can finally see if our
hypothesis is correct that okra is much faster at growing
than the sili. And when we analyzed it carefully, we
saw that the sili plant has more leaves since Janima
went to put more seeds in her pot. But even if we put
more seeds, the sili plant will be much shorter than the
okra. And that our hypothesis is correct.
