Lesson 2 (Page 77, Experience)

2.

Learning is a consequence of experience. In short, use experiential learning as much as

possible period. This principle underlines how important experiences are to the learning
process. It implies that genuine learning happens when people partake in worthwhile
experiences, actively contributing to the advancement of knowledge. The hands-on approach
favored by experiential learning enables students to link theory with practice. This idea is
consistent with educational approaches that use simulations, interactive exercises, and real-
world applications to deepen comprehension.

Learning is a cooperative and collaborative process. This principle emphasizes the value of
social interaction in the learning process. Learning is not a solitary activity; rather, it thrives
when people work together, exchange ideas, and partake in cooperative activities. Through
cooperation and teamwork, a rich learning environment is fostered where many viewpoints help
students gain a deeper knowledge of the subject. Peer-to-peer contacts, group debates, and
team projects are a few examples of tactics that follow this tenet.

If teachers apply the principles of experiential learning and emphasize cooperative and collaborative
processes in the teaching-learning environment, several positive implications can emerge:

1. Increased Engagement: Incorporating experiential learning makes lessons more engaging and
memorable. Students are actively involved in the learning process, fostering a deeper understanding
of the subject matter.

2. Enhanced Retention: Experiential learning helps in the retention of information as students

connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This can lead to better long-term
retention and application of learned concepts.

3. Improved Critical Thinking: Both principles encourage critical thinking. Experiential learning
prompts students to analyze and solve real-world problems, while collaborative processes expose
them to diverse perspectives, stimulating critical thought.

4. Development of Social Skills: The emphasis on cooperative and collaborative processes cultivates
essential social skills. Students learn to work effectively in teams, communicate ideas, and
appreciate diverse viewpoints, preparing them for real-world scenarios.

5. Increased Motivation: Experiential learning and collaborative processes can boost students'
motivation by providing a more dynamic and interactive learning environment. Students may find
the learning experience enjoyable and relevant to their lives.

6. Individualized Learning Paths: Acknowledging the uniqueness of each learner (as suggested by
experiential learning) and fostering collaborative processes allows for more tailored approaches to
education. Teachers can adapt their methods to suit the varied needs and learning styles of their
students.

7. Emotional Connection to Learning: Recognizing that the learning process is emotional as well as
intellectual (as per the principles) encourages educators to create a positive emotional environment.
This emotional connection can enhance the overall learning experience. In summary, applying these
principles can transform the teaching-learning process into a more dynamic, engaging, and effective
experience that prepares students not only with knowledge but also with essential life skills.

Elementary

One of my memories that I can’t forget during my Elementary days was the first time I used a
microscope, definitely it was a science subject and what we did was to observe the structure of
an organism and a cell and how it looks like when using a Microscope. We used a lice and skin of
onion as an example.

Highschool

My teacher asked us to give one word to describe this certain topic and almost everyone of the
class had given a word. Some are random words that describe that particular topic. What made
me amazed was how our teacher used all of the words to connect and define that particular
topic.

College

I have this subject, and I thought that I wouldn’t learn it anyway. Why? I always skipped
his classes due to my work as a BPO company (I was still a trainee at the time). When my
training was over and my schedule was already flexible, I was able to attend his class.
During his time, since he's a teacher in one of our major subjects, Every period, he will
conduct a teaching demo in every macro-skill. Since I have been skipping his class since
day one of our class, I don’t know what to do or what the topic is all about. Day by day,
every period we had, I was already learning about the methods of teaching demos,
especially how to use a lesson plan in detailed form. I will never forget his class or him,
as he made a big impact since he was also a dedicated teacher.

In order to have an effective and efficient teaching demonstration. I expect that a teacher must be
well-prepared. Preparedness is one of the important criteria, because a teacher must be
physically, mentally and emotionally ready including that are his instructional materials to be
used. Mastery of the subject Is a vital part, to deliver the lesson effectively it’s a teacher’s duty to
master the subject and be knowledgeable to give accurate information to his pupils choosing the
right method of teaching & strategies are necessary too. Importantly giving assessment to check
student’s understanding and reflect on teaching performance are criteria also for an effectiveness
and efficient teaching demonstration.

1. My top three theories, among others, were social constructivism, behavior theory, and cognitive
theory. The primary tools used in behaviorism for training are rewards and penalties. Finally,
social constructivism is important because it encourages cooperation among the learners,
whereas cognitivism maintains that learning is meaningful and related to the learner's prior
knowledge.
2. To be able to comprehend how kids learn, a professional teacher must have knowledge and
abilities that are based on a variety of reliable learning theories. Additionally, it will assist the
teacher in adapting their own learning methods to better meet the demands of the pupils. For
them to reflect on their teaching and foster a pleasant learning environment, it is crucial that
they comprehend these distinct theories.
