la Mediterraneità.
All its architecture would revolve, since then, around a
very simple formal repertoire, with few native elements
and materials, and in which the vernacular would affect
the symbolism of its content more than its construction
system (Sustersic, 2004).

``The other is that, having worked only in

sincerity without any 'Italian' budget, that is,
without wanting to make, in Cocteau's words,
an (Italian) architecture d'après l'architecture
(Italian), the surprising (and very dear to me)
episode of being told that it was a "Florentine
villa" came true. This judgement, formulated
with spontaneous sincerity by the local
people, without claiming to express an
"architectural" judgement, is proof of one
thing, namely the fact that even by making an
architecture that is unscrupulously coherent
with its own time, one is (or remains)
unknowingly but happily of one's own
country´´
