Highly controversial land-locked Kampong Bharu is the story of aging infra-

structure rife with racially politicized Malay Agriculture Settlement statute un-
der federal law.Despite being less than 200m from the national landmark of Activity Programming of the adjacent oublic realm: connected by a new urban bridge
Petronas Twin Tower. The innate contrast bring about great interest to develop
(or gentrify) these prime real-estate to bring about FDIs. These motivations in
recent years, has invited encroaching developments into Kampong Bharu pe-
riphery. Unchecked, this uncontrolled development would bring destruction
to the exisitng cultural, social and urban fabric.

A big portion of the project was public outreach and townhall to discuss de-
sign direction and the ownership of these lands. Public inputs are highly inte-
grated into the final masterplan. Land Use Distribution and proposed parcelizaton and phasing strategy strategy

The masterplan aims to curtail hyper-commercialized development into the core

of Kampong Bharu by fortification of existing urban fabrics such as social, eco-
nomical and cultural are main elements identified : and made into urban zoning
and placemaking strategies. This will ensure equitable, sustainable, and respect-
able development without population, cultural and historical displacement.

Driving growth of Bukit Bintang as a Premier Retail and
Tourism Destination in Kuala Lumpur calls for a clean vi-
sion – a future for the city in realizing its own potential.

Masterplan Theme

In imagining the future of Bukit Bintang, various goals

and parameters need to be set in managing the growth Developed 3D Model to understand the visual quality of a densifying the district and its relationship to new public squares and plaza.
in its track: ensuring a sustainable, inclusive and equitable
growth in Bukit Bintang. The goals and parameters are set
within a spectrum of study that shall be streamlined into
clear themes. These themes will reflect all the essence of
the vision.

The Key Focus in the themes is to ensure accountability

of the masterplan in covering all the fundamental issues
and problems identified: in a matrix that later will unearth
the opportunity and key strategies in driving the growth
of Bukit Bintang.
