3Components Of Motherboard: Motherboard consist of 20

components.but 10 main components are discussed here.

Name of components are given below.

1. Central processing unit

2. Electrical connector
3. Parallel port
4. Chipset
5. Computer memory
6. BIOS
7. Electric battery
8. Printed circuit board
9. CPU socket
10.Expansion card
11.Integrated circuit
12.Peripheral Component Interconnect
13.Input/output
14.Southbridge
15.Northbridge
16.Sound card
17.Video card
18.Computer port
19.AGP
20.SATA connector
1.CPU Central processing unit:

A central processing unit —also called a central processor or main

processor—is the most important processor in a given computer. Its
electronic circuitry executes instructions of a computer program, such as
arithmetic, logic, controlling, and input/output operations.
2.CPU socket

In computer hardware, a CPU socket or CPU slot contains one or more

mechanical components providing mechanical and electrical connections
between a microprocessor and a printed circuit board. This allows for
placing and replacing the central processing unit without soldering.
3.Chipset
In a computer system, a chipset is a set of electronic components on one or more
ULSI integrated circuits known as a "Data Flow Management System" that
manages the data flow between the processor, memory and peripherals. It is
usually found on the motherboard of computers.

4.Electric battery

A battery is a source of electric power consisting of one or more electrochemical

cells with external connections for powering electrical devices. When a battery is
supplying power, its positive terminal is the cathode and its negative terminal is
the anode.

5.Expansion card

In computing, an expansion card is a printed circuit board that can be inserted

into an electrical connector, or expansion slot on a computer's motherboard to
add functionality to a computer system.

6.Printed circuit board

A printed circuit board is a medium used to connect electronic components to
one another in a controlled manner.

7.Sound card

A sound card is an internal expansion card that provides input and output of
audio signals to and from a computer under the control of computer programs.
The term sound card is also applied to external audio interfaces used for
professional audio applications.

8.Floppy-disk controller

A floppy-disk controller has evolved from a discrete set of components on one or

more circuit boards to a special-purpose integrated circuit or a component
thereof. An FDC directs and controls reading from and writing to a computer's
floppy disk drive.

9.PCI Express

PCI Express, officially abbreviated as PCIe or PCI-e, is a high-speed serial computer

expansion bus standard, designed to replace the older PCI, PCI-X and AGP bus
standards.
10.Video card

A graphics card is a computer expansion card that generates a feed of graphics

output to a display device such as a monitor. Graphics cards are sometimes called
discrete or dedicated graphics cards to emphasize their distinction to integrated
graphics processor on the motherboard or the CPU.

4.Identify connectors located outside of system unit

Connectors:
A connector is a device that joins two pieces of equipment, wire, or piping
together.
