Determination of Positive, Negative and


Zero-Sequence Reactance of Synchronous
Machine

Aim:
To determine experimentally positive, negative, and zero-sequence reactance
of a synchronous machine.

Apparatus Required:
1. A three-phase alternator coupled to a D.C. motor
2. AC Voltmeters
3. AC/ DC Ammeters
4. Tachometer
5. Rheostat
6. Three- phase variac
7. Single-phase variac
8. Clamp Multimeter

Precautions:
• One must always take a note of the rated machine values and never exceed
them while performing the experiment.
• One must ensure that all the connections are tight and have been verified
properly before powering on the circuit.
• One must wear proper clothes, shoes and handle the electrical outlets with
care
