a computer program that provides graphical user interface which lets the user
organize the files and folders in the storage devices. In this lesson, we will focus
on the file management utility features from the windows package.

Removable Storage - There are several different types of removable storage
that can be used for saving and transferring files from one computer to
another.
Network Drive - If the computer is connected to a computer network, you will
have access to network drives in addition to those available locally on the
computer that you are using.
In the previous topic, you learned how to find a file inside the file explorer. Let us
have a short recap of that together with the other features and tasks that can
be done with the File Management Utility.
Finding Your Files – You already know how to locate or find a file by using the
search box in the file explorer in case you forgot the location where you exactly
saved the file. By simply typing the keyword of your file you can easily locate
the file.
Opening a File - Windows Explorer can be used to open a file that is saved on
your computer or other storage device. Once you locate the file, simply double
click the file, or right click to open.
Copying a File – The process of copying will leave the original file (or folder)
intact, in its current location and create a duplicate in a new location which
can be renamed after pasting in the new location. Select the file or folder that
you want to copy, right click then copy or Ctrl + C after which go to the
location where you want to put it then just press Ctrl+ V or paste.
Moving a File or Folder - to move a file (or folder) is like that of copying.
However, the file (or folder) is removed from the original location, placed on the
clipboard and then pasted (moved) to the new location, instead of using the
copy command, cut command is used or Ctrl+ X.
Deleting a file or folder –To clean and organize your storage, be careful in
deleting a file particularly the ones that do not exist in your hard drive because
it can be permanently deleted. If it existed in the hard drive, there is a possibility
that it can be restored in the recycle bin.
