General Description

EPP-CAN_L
MCM
BATTERY BATTERY
VOLTAGE MODULE
EPP-CAN SENSOR
02_P0B3BG_TX8D00
The electric power plant-controller area network (EPP-CAN) transmits/receives pulsing signals to/from the battery voltage
sensor simultaneously by using two signal lines (EPP-CAN_H and EPP-CAN_L). If the internal failure information from the
battery voltage sensor via the EPP-CAN lines are received for a specified time within a set duration, or if the order of the data
from the battery voltage sensor via the EPP-CAN lines are abnormal for a specified time within a set duration, the motor
control module (MCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status
Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 2 seconds or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL on, IMA system indicator on
OBD Status PASSED/FAILED/NOT COMPLETED (STILL TESTING)
Enable Conditions
Condition Minimum Maximum
Elapsed time since the battery
voltage reaches to a specified
value after the ignition switch is
3 seconds –
turned to ON (II), or the engine
start/stop button is pressed to
select the ON mode
Battery voltage 10.2 V –
No active DTCs set (prevents
U029A
monitor from running)
Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions is met:
• The internal failure information from the battery voltage sensor via the EPP-CAN lines are received for at least 200 times
within 2 seconds.
• The order of the data from the battery voltage sensor via the EPP-CAN lines are abnormal for at least 200 times within 2
seconds.

Advanced Diagnostics
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in
the MCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the
Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by
disconnecting the battery.
