that incorporates the best available current evidence, clinician’s expertise, patient values, and
preferences (Oguh, 2020). If healthcare providers routinely provided medical services consistent
with the latest scientific evidence, patients could benefit from implementing clinical guidelines.
Two parts are essential to progress the quality of healthcare: improvement of evidence-based
medicine, which reinforces the clinicians’ skills and identifies the clinical actions leading to
better medical services, and evidence-based management, which recognizes the hospital
(Hasanpoor et al. 2020). The paper aims to review methods that implement evidence into
The dissemination and adoption of research into clinical practice in health care settings is
a complex and challenging process. Clinical champions have been increasingly used in health
care to facilitate the implementation and adoption of evidence-based practice and overcome
based practice in these settings may improve treatment quality and reduce disease burden (Wood
et al., 2020).
Just as there is a robust science that supports the development and rigorous testing of
clinical innovations, the emerging field of implementation science is developing new theory-
that seek to improve uptake of evidence-based practices by targeting barriers at multiple levels
within health care settings. Studying and documenting implementation strategies associated with
uptake during the development and trial of a clinical innovation could subsequently position the
researcher for a more seamless transition and handoff of the innovation to clinical and

having a high propensity to various factors and elements in health care organizations have
created obstacles in the implementation of EBP in-hospital clinical practice. These obstacles,
which often stemmed from nurses and nursing administrators, included: individual factors such
as negative attitudes to EBP, low levels of knowledge, negative personality traits; organizational
factors like a lack of time, lack of collaboration, lack of support or direction from leadership, and
recommendations, lack of knowledge to search literature, gaps in the available literature, lack of
access to research resources; and, social factors like economic problems and lack of

organizational structure across the continuum of care, and facilitating collaboration between
perioperative nurses and other inter-professional team members to sustain practice changes in the
clinical setting. Perioperative APRNs play an essential role as evidence-based practice experts to
translate research and evidence into clinical practice for safe, quality care in the perioperative
setting (Fencl & Matthews, 2017). Former doctoral students who are currently leaders who have
had success in evidence-based practice have a responsibility to share their wisdom by mentoring
others.
