1. In this unit, we discussed about movies and series. Recall the activities and answer the
questions:
a) How often do you go to the cinema?
A: I go to the cinema once every two months
b) How often do you watch movies or series?
A: I watch movies/series once a week
c) Is there any movie or series that you like to re-watch? Explain.
A: Yes. Everybody Hates Chris is a series that I rewatch almost every day, because I
find it very funny and with a relevant theme even today.

II – Read quinn-27977’s synopsis and answer the questions (use the box useful language to
help you with question d.)
a) Why is Joel immoral?
A: Joel is immoral because he lost his daughter at the beginning of the fungus pandemic that
attacked humanity. He went through many horrible places and saw many atrocities and lost
his sensitivity as a human being.
b) Does Ellie make connections with people easily?
A: Ellie has been very traumatized by people, and because of that she can't connect with
people easily. As her body holds the cure, she believes that everyone approaches out of
interest.
c) Do Joel and Ellie get together spontaneously? Explain.
A: No. Joel is obliged to escort Ellie to doctors who can cure the human race through samples
taken from her body. It's a kind of mission where they are forced to spend months with each
other.
d) What can you infer about what Joel and Ellie learn with their relationship when we
read “An emotionally gripping story of love, hope, perseverance, and recovery”?
A: I believe at the beginning of Joel and Ellie's relationship, they didn't like each other.
However, as the days went by and with the complicity they developed to survive, they ended
up developing a mutual love, similar to a father-daughter relationship. Joel has saved Ellie's
life numerous times. And when he needed her, she bravely defended Joel's life. It's really a
story of overcoming, recovery and, above all, love and hope.

3. Choose a series or a movie you are a fan of. Write a short synopsis (in your own
words). As a reference, you can use the ones you studied in unit 1 or the ones written
by Jimmy and Quinn-27977 in the Reading part.
-In your synopsis, include:
• Include the main characters and most important events to make the reader want
to see the series/movie;
• Use adjectives that characterize the characters and the events;
• Connect sentences using relative pronouns (which, who or that).
A: In the series "Everybody Hates Chris", the main character, Chris, is a young black man who
lives in the United States, in the 90s. The series is a comedy, but it brings with it a very
important narrative: the rooted racism of the 90s In the USA. The series portrays the daily life
of Chris' family and the way in which they deal with their problems, and especially the things
they do to try to overcome racial inequality. This series brings an identification of the
Brazilians who watch it, as it reminds us a lot of what we went through socially and especially
the mother of the protagonist, Rochelle, who looks a lot like Brazilian mothers.
