 Fill in the table with at least three differences of two types of computers.
 Explain at least three advantages and disadvantages of two types of computers.

ACTIVITIES
 Play a game to revise computer-related vocabulary.
 Put a word on the board (e.g. scrolling).
PRE-LESSON
 Pupils take it in turns to come to the front of the class to mime the action of the word while the class guess the
meaning of the word.

 Draw pupils’ attention to the two pictures.
 Draw pupils’ attention to the box underneath the pictures to get an idea of the phrases they can use.
 Ask pupils to read through the box on the right which contains some of the words they can use while comparing and
contrasting the two types of computers and make sure they haven't got any unknown words.
 Point out to pupils that there are two things they need to discuss (1. the differences between the two types of
LESSON computers 2. what they like/ dislike about each type of computer).
DEVELOPMENT  Draw up the table below (see the Teacher’s book, p 17) on the board.
 Ask pupils to help you fill in all the advantages and disadvantages. (Teacher’s book p17)

 Ask pupils to work with their partner or small groups to write up the ideas into a text of four short paragraphs
corresponding with the four boxes in the table describing the advantages and disadvantages of both computers.
 Get pupils to do the activity in pairs and go round the class helping them when necessary.
 Choose some pairs to act out the dialogue in class. (Student’s book p17)
 Ask pupils to review their learning in this lesson by getting them to identify with their talk partner(s) at least one new
POST-LESSON word or expression that they have learned in relation to the lesson.
 When pupils are ready, collect and share words/expressions as a whole class.
