REFLECTION ON THE TELL-TALE HEART

1. WHAT IS THE MORAL OF THE STORY?

The moral of the story The Tell-Tale Heart was to always think twice, thrice, and even a hundred
times before doing something outrageous since you never know what might happen next after
you do it and always remember that conscience is hard to fight.
2. WHAT IS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE NARRATOR?
Our first impression of the narrator was that he was scared and nervous, and he seemed to be
running away from something, and whatever it was, it seems like it was going to be the end of
his life or something that would end him.
3. WHO IS THE NARRATOR OF THE STORY?
The narrator of the story was unidentified.
4. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE RELATIONSHIP WAS BETWEEN THE OLD MAN
AND THE NARRATOR?
We think that the narrator was someone who cared for and took care of the old man.
REFLECTION:
The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe was very thrilling and it got us full of excitement. It was
about murder and madness. This story is really entertaining because of all the mystery especially
when the unnamed narrator was secretly peaking, through the door of the old man’s room just to
see if he was still awake or if he was asleep. We actually wondered why the unnamed narrator
always lurked at the old man. At first, we really couldn’t quite understand the story but as we
continued to read it, we slowly understood what it was all about and what some of the words
truly meant.
The story shows different emotions and the story was not cliché like when you read about a girl
falling in love with a white boy and then later on she will discover his secrets and stuff. The story
showcased a different plot that helped our mind imagine and wonder on how the story will end
because of the twisty plot.
After reading the story, we realized that actions really do have their own consequences and we
should not do things hastily. We should think about what might happen next after doing this or
that. Also, it is important to know that you can never escape conscience. Doing things,
especially bad things, would eventually have consequences that will hunt you and that would
be the hardest thing to overcome. If you have done something bad or you have done
something disgraceful you must be honest to yourself and face the following consequences
instead of hiding it and acting like everything is fine because being honest and confessing what
you have really done is much more acceptable than being caught red-handed.
Therefore, as a student, when you are experiencing some things that seem to be very difficult to
find a solution, do not immediately decide or do not do something risky just to make yourself
feel like you have already conquered it.
