QUESTION 1. B.

Explain three reasons why it is necessary to take the COVID-19 vaccine

COVID-19 is a new pandemic disease that broke out aggressively to fight humanity. It
forced and shut institutions down, it also brought down countries’ economy. After several
months, health people came out with vaccines in order to prevent the loss of life and bring our
life back to normal. African countries especially, waited for the vaccines and are now
receiving them in order to get it administrated to their citizens. Ghana is among those
countries. In the following lines, I would talk about the reasons why it is necessary to take the
COVID-19 vaccine.

To start with, COVID-19 vaccination will be an important tool to help stop the
pandemic. Wearing masks and social distancing help reduce your chance of being exposed to
the virus or spreading it to others, also the use of sanitizers helped us to reduce the spread too
but these measures are not enough. Vaccines will work with your immune system so it will be
ready to fight the virus if you are exposed. The combination of being vaccinated and the
following CDC’s (Centre for Disease Control) recommendations, which are the COVID’s
protocol to protect others and ourselves, will offer the best protection from COVID-19.
Stopping a pandemic requires using all the tools available. As experts, learn more about how
COVID-19 vaccination may help reduce spread of the disease in communities or countries.
CDC will continue to update the recommendation which is the administration of the Vaccine
to our body, to protect communities which are less developed.
Secondly, a safer way to build protection is the COVID- 19 Vaccination. As we started
saying in the first point that CDC recommended the vaccines and approved by the W.H.O.
COVID-19 can have serious, life-threatening complications and there is no way to know how
it will affect you. If you get sick, you could spread the disease to friends, family and others
around you. Getting COVID-19 may offer some natural protection known as immunity.
Currently according to WHO, evidence suggests that reinfection with the virus that causes
COVID-19 is uncommon in 90 days after initial infection. However, experts don’t know for
sure how long this protection lasts and the risk of severe illness and death from COVID-19
vaccination will help protect you by creating an antibody (immune system) response without
having to experience sickness. With this vaccination, you are protected to fight against the
disease. There is no time for you to check whether you will contract it, you have contracted it,
or you will contract it. You made up your protection against it.

Finally, the COVID-19 vaccines are necessary because it may lead or return our
normal life back. Vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity
to a particular infectious disease. I brought up the full definition of vaccine to support this
point I am making. Vaccines are there to protect us. First, it was because of the COVID that is
why our life is no more normal. We now wear nose masks everywhere, it is part of our dress
code, we always sanitize whenever we are entering an institution for example Banks. We do
not normally sit by our friends or members again at church. There is a Social distance
protocol, which makes them to separate us. Workers now work at home, through Zoom or
other social media. Shifts are running up, hospitals are full up because most of there have
been taken as quarantine centre. So a lot has happened because of this COVID-19 and it
changed our normal life. Our normal life has been taken away from us. Footballers now play
without fans. Now that, there is a vaccine, our normal life might get back to how it was before
the Pandemic. Once everyone is vaccinated, it makes us confident and certain that we are safe
from the virus and can manage and stop it so we go back to old life.

To conclude, I sincerely think that it is really needed to get the vaccine to every
Ghanaian or every citizens across the whole world. This is because, it will help us get to our
normal life and before it does that, it will protect us from it then help us stop the spreading.
Question 2

Primarily, I obtained unity in the first body paragraph by applying some techniques and rules
from the academic writing. Before I started, I wrote down my points so the first paragraph was the
first point on my freewritting. I later outline the topic sentence and tried to know the full
understanding before I tackled it. When I was done, I started writing my essay in an academicals way,
which means my words and verbs are formal.
