In light of the Bishop's instruction, "as the chief steward of the mysteries of God; moderator, promoter, and guardian of the whole liturgical life" (GIRM 22), one (1) prescribed mass
setting is established in response to the “desire that all the faithful should be led to that fully conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations”, (SC 14), everywhere, across
all parishes in the Diocese of Imus.
The Parish Ministry on Music in the Liturgy, in coordination with the respective parish priests/pastors, may adapt some recommended programs and activities to allow choirs and the
whole congregation to become familiar with the prescribed songs, these include, but are not limited to:
- Establishment the parish-wide implementation of a common and repeated line up
- Parish general choir practices, regular parish updating/meeting and resource sharing
- Conduct song rehearsals with the congregation prior to the liturgical celebrations
- Provision of a visual display system or print aids to encourage assembly participation; such aid/visual display should include the songs and acclamations that will be sung
The priests/pastors, in his pastoral discretion may choose other locally known mass setting while the prescribed mass setting is being gradually adapted, to take into account the
technical and pastoral challenges encountered in the parish setting. The use of alternative mass setting is merely an aid in the gradual adaptation of the prescribed songs and does not
absolve parishes from taking part in the program.

The Mystery of the triune God is appropriately celebrated as a solemnity on the Sunday after Pentecost. We worship the Holy Trinity, and we worship in and through the Trinity. Every Eucharistic
Celebration thus begins “In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” and concludes with the blessing given in the name of the Trinity. The high point of the Mass, the Eucharistic

On the last Sunday of each liturgical year, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, or Christ the King.
Christ’s kingship is rooted in the Church’s teaching on the Incarnation. Jesus is fully God and fully man. He is both the divine Lord and the man who suffered and died on the Cross. One person of the
Trinity unites himself to human nature and reigns over all creation as the Incarnate Son of God. “From this it follows not only that Christ is to be adored by angels and men, but that to him as man
angels and men are subject, and must recognize his empire; by reason of the hypostatic union Christ has power over all creatures” (Quas primas, 13).
This solemnity encourages us the celebrate and live out our faith in public. “Thus by sermons preached at meetings and in churches, by public adoration of the Blessed Sacrament exposed and by solemn
processions, men unite in paying homage to Christ, whom God has given them for their King” (Quas primas, 26).

Entrance Songs
- Accompany the procession of the priest and ministers, open the celebration and foster the unity of those who have been gathered and introduce their thoughts to the mystery of
the liturgical season or festivity (GIRM 47)
- The antiphon, psalms may be drawn from the liturgical books (i.e. Graduale Romanum or Graduale Simplex) or from other collection of psalms (GIRM 48)
- Create an atmosphere of celebration. It helps put the assembly in the proper frame of mind for listening to the Word of God. It helps people to become conscious of themselves
as a worshiping community. The choice of texts for the entrance song should not conflict with these purposes. In general, during the most important seasons of the Church
year—Easter, Lent, Christmas, and Advent—it is preferable that most songs used at the entrance be seasonal in nature. (MCW 61)
- Other hymns and songs may also be sung at the Entrance, providing that they are in keeping with the purpose of the Entrance chant or song (STL 144b)
Preparation of the Gifts

- Respond to the purpose of the "Preparatio donorum" which is to accompany the rite of the Presentation of the Gifts.
- The norms on the manner of singing are the same as for the Entrance Song (GIRM 74)
Communion Songs
- Express the spiritual union of the communicants by means of the unity of their voices, show gladness of heart and bring out more clearly the communitarian character of the
procession to receive the Eucharist (GIRM 86). The faithful are encouraged to grasp ever more deeply the essentially communitarian nature of the Communion procession. In
order to foster participation of the faithful with “unity of voices,” it is recommended that psalms sung in the responsorial style, or songs with easily memorized refrains, be used.

- The antiphon from the Roman Missal or Psalm from the Roman Gradual (GIRM 87)
- Might reflect themes of the Gospel Reading of the day (STL 191)
- Reflect the liturgical action, i.e.,eating and driking the Body and Blood of Christ (STL 191)
- During the various seasons of the year, the psalm or song during Communion should be chosen with the spirit of that season in mind. On most Sundays and other days, it
would be appropriate to sing one of the psalms that have long been associated with participation in the Eucharistic banquet, such as Psalms 23, 34, and 147. There is also a
substantial repertory of liturgical songs that give expression to the joy and wonder of sharing in the Lord’s Supper. (STL 94)
- Any psalm or other hymn is appropriate if it expresses the spiritual unity of the communicants, shows the joy of all, and makes the communion procession an act of union of
brothers and sisters in Christ. In its structure and its simplicity, the song should encourage the participation of all present. (Pastoral Introduction to the Order of the Mass #137)
- Foster a sense of unity. It should be simple and not demand great effort. It gives expression to the joy of unity in the body of Christ and the fulfillment of the mystery being
celebrated. In general, during the most important seasons of the Church year—Easter, Lent, Christmas, and Advent—it is preferable that most songs used at the communion be
seasonal in nature. For the remainder of the Church year, however, topical songs may be used during the communion procession, provided these texts do not conflict with the
paschal character of every Sunday (MCW 62)
Recessional Songs
- Accompany the movement of the ministers and assembly from the assembly-space. It aims "to give the celebration a certain liturgical and musical unity it was often customary
for the choir and at times even the assembly to sing as the ministers departed from the sanctuary.”
- Provide a festive aural environment to conclude the ritual action. This is one of the means of prolonging the festive character of the celebration. Instrumental music may also
serve to provide a joyful concluding atmosphere.” and
- Invite the assembly to confirm in song their acceptance of the commission proffered in the solemn blessing or prayer over the people.

Greetings!
The Diocesan Ministry on Music in Liturgy constanfly initiates the promotion of a fuller, more
conscious, and active participation in liturgy (SacrosanctumConcilium, 14) particularly in the
celebration of the Sacramentof the Eucharist.
In 2079,a letter of encouragementto support their programs and initiatives, addressed to the
clergy of the Dioceseof Imus, was formally released.
This letter reaffirms the ministry's commitment and enjoins all parishes,religious, and Christian
communities to cooPerate and support their initiatives in liturgical music in the Diocese of
Imus.

Greetings of peace.
Constant invigoration, sustenanceand promotion of genuine music in the litutgy ale our drea:ns
for the whole Diocese of Imus. We do these so that celebratioru of the iiturgy in ail Christian
conmrunities, big or small, uray become avenUes for our faithful to encounter the Lord in the
mysteries celebrated.Through liturgical music, we grow in faith and public worship is expressed
in a more noble and fitting rnanner. The riches of the faith we profess and celebrate with profound
gratitude for the Lord's goodnessis brought to fore in a nobler way when genuine liturgical music
is promoted in intimate connection with the actions in liturgy. (SC112)
On top of all these, we, as a Local Church, continuously respond with utrnost zeal and
commihent to the SecondVatican Council's ultimate desire to promote a fuller, more conscious
and active participation in liturgical celebrations especially the HoIy Eucharist. (SC 14) Through
the right disposition and participation in the sacraments, the faithful benefit and receive graces
from God. With entrancedappreciation of the mysteries of the Lord, the whole people of God
solenurly celebrateas a worshiping Church. This is what pastoral Iiturgy encourages,and music
as servant of the fiturgy helps the Church to accomplish such.
To this end, I hereby confirm and thank all efforts of MusiCavitefro, the Diocesan Ministry on
Music in the I-iturgy. Their task and mission to ensure genuine and meaningful Uturgical music
in our diocesehave been significant.
As Bishop of our dioceseand Chief Liturgist, I enjoin every priest whether diocesanor religious
of our parish communities to support the prograrns, activities and recomrnendations of
MusiCaviteflo and help the Ministry fulfill the mandate it has been tasked to do.
Let us all remember the words of St. Augustine who said - "He zohosingszuellprays ttoice!" May
we all be one with Mary, Our Lady of the Pillar and Patronessof our diocesein her singing of her
Magnificat to God.
