P1: Windows Commands


1. COPY CON : Copy con is an MS-DOS and Windows command line
command that allows the creation of a file through the
command line. To use this command, type copy con
followed by the name of the file you want to create, as
shown below. After this command is typed, you'll be
returned to a blank line, which is the start of your file.

2. TYPE: The type of command displays the contents of a text file. However, it

does not allow you to edit the file , or add new text . To edit a text a
file use Notepad instead. Or, to append text to a new or existing file
from the command prompt you can use copy con.

3. DEL: The del command is used delete files from a computer. Del is an


internal command and is available in the following Microsoft
operating systems. The delete command is a Recovery Console
command and is available in the below Microsoft operating
systems.

4. REN: In computing, ren (or rename) is a command in various command-


line interpreters ( shells) such as COMMAND.COM, cmd.exe, 4DOS,
4NT and Windows PowerShell.

5. MD: Creates a new folder or directory in your system .

6. CD: The CD command refers to change directory. It is a professional


Windows Command Prompt change directory command. You can use
CD command to easily change the current working directory in CMD in
windows.

7. RD: The rd command can also run from the Windows Recovery Console,
using different parameters. For more information, see Windows
Recovery Environment.
8.TREE: The TREE command displays a graphical representation of the
directory tree using standard or extended ASCII characters.

9.DEL TREE: In computing, DELTREE (short for delete tree) is a command


line command in some Microsoft operating systems that an
entire subdirectory of files.

10.COPY: Use the command to copy a file using its specific name and file
extension or use a wildcard to copy groups of files at once,
regardless of the file names or extensions.

11.Move: The move command allows users to transfer files or directories


from one directory to another or from one drive to another.

12.DIR: Dir is a command found inside the windows command processor


(cmd.exe) that is generally used for listing the directories and
files within the current directory.

13.VOL: It is used to display the volume label and volume serial number of
a logical drive, such as a hard disk partition or a floppy disk, if they

exist.

14.TIME: Display or set the system time.

15.PATH: The Path command sets the command path in the PATH


environment variable (the set of directories used to search for
executable files). If used without parameters, path displays the
current command path.

16.VER: In computing, ver (short for version) is a command in various


command-line interpreters such as COMMAND.COM, cmd.exe and
4DOS/4NT. It prints the name and version of the operating
system, the command shell, or in some implementations the
version of other commands.
17.DATE: Display or sets the system date.”

18.TITLE: Change the title test displayed across the top of the CDM
terminal window.

19.REN: The VER command is used to display the version number of a


utility or program. In some versions the command is called
VERSION.
