Narrative Report

Self-Growth will always have a considerable impact on the lives of each individual. To

some, it can be anxious, but to us from the tourism department, it is inspiring because the

challenge exists and it has made us who we are today and who we will be in the near future.

The tourism department officers at Saint Michael College of Caraga, as well as the

faculty members, have decided to organize an event in celebration of the international tourism

month 2022 for all the students studying tourism and thus titled the event “Tourism Festival”.

This event's major goals were to bring together all tourism students, regardless of their academic

year levels, and enlighten them about the travel and tourism sector. The students become better

equipped to deal with reality after the experience. It furthermore created a huge impact on their

lives and help them grow more for the betterment of our future. Additionally, it helped them

become more socially adept because it placed them in a scenario where they must maintain their

beauty under duress.

Last September 27, 2022, the officers conducted the said event that was held at Saint

Michael College of Caraga (AVR). Students from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism

Management were informed to be at the venue by 8:30 since the program will start at 9 a.m., and

so they arrived a few minutes before the event was about to begin. During the first agenda which

was the hair & makeup competition and career development, students never ceased to astound

not only the panel of judges but by demonstrating their abilities and stepping beyond their

comfort zones, they captivated everyone at the event. By 1:00 p.m., the destination race had
begun. It was a highly enjoyable race in which players had to jump from station to station to take

on obstacles that would test their team-building abilities, leadership skills, and capacity to

control their conflicted emotions. Unfortunately, a technical problem forced the event to be

postponed for a few hours. However, rather than feeling under pressure, the event's teams used

the delay as an opportunity to gather their strength and perform at their peak when the venue

became available.

Thus, I conclude that everyone in the event had learned a lot, may it be the faculties, the

students, and the officers from both the department and the organization. Due to various

technical difficulties, not only the participants but mainly the officials also practiced the event's

objectives, ensuring that everyone was prepared to maintain beauty under pressure. Moreover,

unity was not forced but had happened naturally. Also, the objectives of this event were

accomplished and it has come to our attention that tourism students are extremely competitive

when it comes to achieving goals, particularly when it comes to winning the title of overall

champion. And we are incredibly thankful to have shared in their path, which has given them the

tools to be the best versions of themselves.

Destination Race

Destination Race is a game inspired by "the amazing race", an exciting fast-paced game that

requires teamwork and coordination. Players have to accomplish numerous challenges along the

race with the ultimate goal of getting to the finish line in the quickest net time. Each team is

given a passport that holds the itinerary and serves as their guide on which destinations/stations

they must go to and take the challenges. The itinerary provides the team to navigate where and

which places they are to go and take the challenges. However, destinations/assigned stations are

not indicated directly in the itinerary, therefore the team needs to figure out what is asked in the

itinerary to know where and which place to go. Each station is named accordingly to the answers

to the questions in the itinerary. Stations were named after PLACES IN THE PHILIPPINES.

Each destination has its different challenges of which players need to accomplish to finish the
race. Mechanics of each game/challenge were instructed along the destinations/station proper.

All members of the team were involved and encouraged to play the game. Team leaders will

facilitate their members and will be the ones to hold their passports.
