Introduction
Chemical Engineering is a very exciting career that provides great contributions to
society. However, although many students are attracted to studying it, few know
the job field that this degree has.
If you like the scientific field in the field of chemical-biological sciences, are
interested in research and experimental work, and have good skills in the
application of the scientific method, chemistry and information processing, this
career is for you.
In all industries, no matter what branch they are in, depend on the transformation
of materials. For example: the pharmaceutical industry creates medicines and
vaccines from chemicals; the food industry relies on chemical engineering to
preserve and process plant and animal products. Just to mention a few.
All that said, today we will talk about the broad field of work you can join if you
graduate from a Chemical Engineering degree so you can make a better decision
when enrolling in college.
A chemical engineer has knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, engineering,
industrial design, environmental science, biotechnology, among other disciplines.
Therefore, the job market for a chemical engineer is quite broad and is sought after
by several areas.
If you are someone who enjoys chemical-biological sciences, you are interested in
research, experimental and laboratory work, you apply the scientific method to
extract knowledge and process information, and you are passionate about
contributing to the development and growth of society and the economy, then
Chemical Engineering is ideal for you.
So where can a chemical engineer perform?
The career field of this profession is quite broad and highly sought after in many
industrial sectors, including:

Petrochemical
Focused on the processes of transformation and refining of fuels derived from oil
and gas, extracted from the subsoil.
In the same way, it relates the integral knowledge of the so-called basic sciences
and what their applications are. Interpret the fundamental laws referring to the
conservation of mass, also with energy and amount of movement. It also integrates
the design, along with the operation and control of the so-called industrial units,
responsible for the processes of transformation and chemical separation.
Pharmacist
Pharmaceuticals, in addition to being pure chemistry, is one of the largest and most
important industries on our planet. Not without reason, since it is responsible for
keeping us healthy by fighting the diseases that shorten our lives.
It participates in the production and quality control of medicines, serums, vaccines,
hygiene products and cosmetics among others. It analyzes the physicochemical
characteristics of the active ingredient to condition, transport and store it in optimal
conditions.
Energy
The industry of rechargeable batteries of smartphones and other devices are proof
of this. Thanks to the understanding and application of new and powerful synthetic
materials, it is possible to generate chemical processes that drive the functioning of
our world. 
A chemical engineer is a multidisciplinary professional in charge of the design,
development and management of processes that optimize the transformation of
raw materials for the manufacture of new products.
Food
His specialty is adapting and processing natural ingredients into new and nutritious
consumer products. The Chemical Engineer is also responsible for producing new
flavors and foods, as well as new processes that strengthen the nutritional content
of food, extend its consumption period or even protect it from external agents. 
Apply the principles of Process Engineering and Technology to the industrialization
of food, with the ability to design, install, start and control food industries, instruct
the Engineer to control quality, nutritional value, modern preservation techniques,
storage and transport of food products as well as foster the ability to adopt new
technologies for the processing process, formulate new food products, in
addition to providing information about the impact of production processes linked to
agriculture and livestock and the marketing of food in general.
Metallurgical and mining
Many of the things we see and use every day began their life in a mine: cars,
planes, motorcycles, electronic components for cell phones or computers, even the
beams and metals used in the buildings we frequent daily. All this arises thanks to
the multidisciplinary collaboration of many professionals; but one of them performs
an indispensable task in the quality review; That is why we interviewed an expert
professional on this subject, we talked about what a Metallurgical Chemical
Engineer does.
The process after mining
 Mechanics: on the maintenance of machinery for the mining process.
 Extraction: for the supervision of the chemical substances that are used in
the process of extraction and separation of minerals.

produced in the foundry.
 Research: for the development of new alloys or devices that can improve
metallurgical activity.
Where do they work?
A metallurgist is hardly in the office, his work is more in the field.
Metallurgical Chemical Engineers, in addition to being in the mines, may also be in
foundry plants or even in the automotive or aeronautical industry, to check that the
materials used in the products are adequate and have the necessary quality.
In Mexico, there is a wide labor offer; For example, in Veracruz large steel tubes
are produced that are used for oil extraction and in the north of the country there
are huge mining companies that extract material day and night from the bowels of
the earth.
This is just to mention in detail some disciplines, as mentioned above there are
many areas where a Chemical Engineer can develop, because everything is
derived from chemistry, it is the basis of everything.
Conclusion
We can conclude that although the university career is one of the most
complicated, it has a great advantage to have a large labor field where one can
perform. Of course, each discipline is derived to the specialty that one chooses to
study but in each career it shows a variety of knowledge in general where you can
extend to other branches and open your field of work more. It should be noted that
although there is a lot of labor field, it does not assure us a job, so you have to
work for it and take specialties and improve knowledge to fight with your own
competition.
