ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

There are stages in the process of analysis and design of Tensile Membrane Structure.

STAGE-1- TENSILE MEMBRANE ANALYSIS:

A) The Membrane analysis is performed using the software –IXCUBE, Italy. It is a non- linear program to perform the fabric analysis.
B) Form finding: - is done with applying pre-stress to the fabric, pre-stress is varied till such time that the desired form is achieved. (force density method is
used to achieve the form)

C) Analysis: - The Pre-stressed form is loaded with the wind loads (applied on the mesh surface) the C.P. Values are calculated as per tables provided in the
IS 875 Part III, the software performs several iterations unless the results converge.

STAGE -2- ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF SUPPORTING STEEL STRUCTURES:

A) The reaction forces for all nodes where the fabric connects to the steel are extracted from IX CUBE for all load cases and exported to Staad -pro.
B) This Staad -pro model is analyzed for member forces and reactions. Structural steel member design is performed as per IS 875 Part III

CURVE offers design Assistance for architectural tensile tensioned membrane system.

a) All steel members will be CHS/SHS/RHS confirming to IS 1161 / 1239 / 4239 of min 240 YST. b) Built up members will be made from plates marked with
IS2062. Yst 240/350 as per design. c) Foundation bolts will be of 8.8Gr steel.

d) All nut bolts will be 4.8/8.8 gr.

MEMBRANE
a) Fabric Clamping will be done with aluminum alloy flats & extrusions.

b) Keder will be made of virgin PVC extrusion of 10/12mm as per requirement. c) Fabric clamping with 4.8 GI nuts bolts hot dip galvanized.

FABRICATION & ERECTION PROCEDURE.

FABRICATION PROCEDURE (STEEL).

a) Steel working as per IS 800 2007.

b) All steel members will be cleaned with copper slag blasting & coated with one coat of prefabrication primer before fabrication.
c) Maximum fabrication work will be done in factory in transportable lengths. d) All welding electrodes will be of 7018, oven baked as per practice.

e) Welded surfaces will be inspected as per schedule & QAP.

f) All holes will be drilled 2mm over the bolt size.
FABRICATION PROCEDURE (FABRIC).
a) All welds will be of 40mm width done by HF welding machines. b) 10mm PVC Keder will be welded to edges (clamped to steel). c) Cutting will be done
on CNC Plotter.

d) Flaps etc. where ever possible will be welded in factory.
e) Welds will face downhill.

f) Welded membrane panels will be marked for installation.
ERECTION - STEEL

a) Erection will be done as per standards.

b) Mechanical equipment will be used where ever possible. c) All members will be in line & plumb.
ERECTION - FABRIC
a) Surface preparation will be done by laying PVC ground sheets.

b) All steel surfaces will be checked before fabric erection.

c) Fabric will be installed as per erection schedule.

d) Tensioning will be done as per schedule to achieve a uniform tensioned surface. e) Additional tensioning space will be kept to counter long term creep.
Modern tensile structure technology with proven materials

TEXTILE MEMBRANE ROOFING

In addition to the use of form, the selection of the right material is of essential importance to the success of the project.
Irrespective of whether its technical textiles (coated or uncoated fabric) – when choosing the material, the desired use, life span of
the building and later maintenance costs should all be considered. Building regulations, structural requirements and illumination
of the covered area should also to be taken into account. The result combines elegance with innovative technology.

• Advantages of Tensile Membrane
1) Flexible design
Virtually unlimited designs of distinctive elegant forms can be realized because of the unique flexible characteristics of architectural
membrane. Also, fewer support columns create more functional, aesthetically pleasing spaces.

2) Outstanding flawlessness
In daylight, the membrane's transparency offers soft diffused naturally lit spaces reducing interior lighting costs. At night, the artificial lighting
creates an ambient exterior luminescence.

3) Shortened construction Schedule

Incorporating the most modern construction techniques, large fabricated membrane panels can be installed quickly to shorten installation
schedules. Likewise, fabric removal can be accomplished easily.

4) Cost Assistance
Lightweight structures can be a more cost effective solution than traditional building materials offering building owners reduced costs.
Materials, such as photo-catalytic membranes, can help prevent temperature rise as well as reduce maintenance costs due to their self-
cleaning properties.

5) Extended span construction

Lightweight membrane is a cost-effective solution that requires less structural steel to support the roof, enabling long spans of column-free
space.

6) Earth quick confrontation

Lightweight tensile membrane structures bear less building load than traditional roofing materials and the membrane's elasticity offers
further earthquake resistance

Tensile Fabric Product - Eco Friendly

Noise pollution

Fabric roofing structures provide not only the benefit of reducing climatic noise from rain, hail and wind, but also the curved
construction diffuses both internal and external sounds, whilst absorbing them at the same time. This dramatically improves noise
pollution

Semi-permanent nature
Tension membrane structures ‘historically’ have been closely tied to major events such as exhibitions, where shelters are needed
for short periods of time. Tension Fabric structures can be easily designed for rapid relocation and re-erection; making them
perfect for high impact event structures. Not only does this help with practicality it also helps with planning permission for fixed
term structures as they are classed by most authorities as semi-permanent structures.
