NEW FEATURES IN LEAPFROG GEO 4.3
Variable drillhole radius scaling
When visualising downhole numerical data, you can now scale the width of the drillhole cylinder
by another column of data values from the same table.

Planned drillhole groups

Planned drillholes are now managed in groups for greater efficiency. For example, carry out
evaluations, define filters and display drilling prognosis at a group level. Planned drillholes can also now
be viewed by evaluation. Your existing planned holes will automatically upgrade into this new grouping
based upon the prefix.

See planning drillholes for more information.

Display drillhole trace object
There is a new Drillhole traces object in the Drillholes folder that allows for independent display of
drillhole traces in the scene. Trace display properties can be changed in the properties panel.

Reload meshes
New meshes imported into Leapfrog Geo or created from
extracting mesh parts are now dynamic objects that can be
reloaded. To reload a mesh, right-click on the mesh and select
Reload Mesh. Changes to the mesh will flow down the project
tree. Please note this excludes elevation grids.

AcQuire Smart refresh

Leapfrog Geo 4.3 introduces the acQuireDirect API functionality -
Smart Refresh. Smart Refresh obtains the latest drilling data from
the GIM Suite database without having to reload the entire
contents of the database. This will greatly reduce the amount of
data transferred and speeds up data updates. Smart Refresh will
only include drillholes relating to data that has been changed
since the database was last updated in Leapfrog Geo.

See connecting to an acQuire database for more information.

Mesh clean up improvements

Imported volumes and meshes may have overlapping triangles
(known as self-intersections) that prevent the mesh from being
usable in further mesh operations. An option has been added to
remove self-intersections from newly imported meshes.

See cleaning up a mesh for more information.

Structural data analysis

View statistics on structural data or lineations in the project tree.

The statistics displayed for stereonets has previously been limited

to Fisher statistics, which are calculated for polar data. Bingham
statistics, which are more useful for folded geologies, are now

available. Clicking the Plot, Bingham, and Fisher buttons switches between the display of the stereonet
and the statistics tables.

See stereonets and viewing statistics on structural data for more information.

Table of statistics for numeric data

A new function has been added to Statistics that tabulates the basic statistics for numeric data.
Customise the table by hiding columns or displaying multiple categories.

Graphs and statistics refresh

Several changes have been made to how graphs and statistics are displayed to provide a more
consistent experience.

See Statistics for more information.

Scatter plots
• The Linear Regression line is now weighted by Interval Length for Drillholes and by Block Volume
for Block Models.

• A lasso tool allows for improved freeform point selection on the graph.

• Selecting points in the scatter plot creates a temporary filter applied to the scene view. Switch the
filter on and off to analyse in 3D how the selection relates to the rest of the data. This also applies
to univariate graphs.

• Export the graph image as a .pdf or .svg or .png

• If your X and Y values are on different scales, it can be useful to display the quartile line and
compare this to the X=Y line.

Some lesser used functionality has been removed to improve the overall user experience. This includes
zoom and pan controls, the ability to select point size and filter based on category column, set the flat
point colour and the colour of the regression and conditional expectation lines. If you have feedback on
this, please contact support@leapfrog3d.com.

Box plots
• A small improvement makes it easier
to see what categories are available
in the box plot and if they are turned
on or off.

Some lesser used functionality has been

removed to improve the overall user
experience. This includes the option for
vertical boxes, and notches. The summary
table has been replaced with the new Table
of Statistics. If you have feedback on this,
please contact support@leapfrog3d.com.

Composite comparison
• Click and drag on the before and after compositing graph to filter data. The selection will be
reflected in the scene.

QQ plot
• Filter your column by category or query filter.

All graphs

• Choose the image quality when copying graphs.

• Set the limits for both the X and Y scales for all relevant graphs.

• The Histogram has been moved from the properties panel and can be accessed for many
numeric objects by right clicking on the column in the tree. For example, view a histogram and
statistics on structural data.

Weighted statistics for numeric columns
Both weighted and unweighted values are now displayed in the Properties Dialogs for numeric columns
on interval tables. You can also view weighted and unweighted values in the Table of Statistics.

Cross section improvements

Line evaluations

• Evaluate lines on to cross sections such as GIS lines and polylines.

Assign symbols to the pierce point where the line intersects the cross
section, to provide context when presenting geological cross sections.

• Additional point symbols have been added.

See adding and styling lines for more information.

Hatching on drillholes

When laying out cross sections it is now possible to display hatching on drillholes.

See adding and styling drillholes and planned drillholes for more information.

Arrange labels on cross sections

Where multiple drillholes are evaluated in a confined space, cross section layouts can become hard to
read or even overlap. With Leapfrog Geo 4.3 it is easy to arrange the collar labels into a custom
composition by simply dragging the collar labels to the desired location.

See adding and styling drillholes and planned drillholes for more information.

Improved Datamine export

The advanced block model export introduced in Leapfrog Geo 4.3 has been added to sub-blocked
models exported in Datamine format.

DWG file export

.dwg is available as an export format for:
• Sections
• Serial sections
• Alignment serial sections
• Points
• Numeric model values

© Seequent Limited 2018 9

• Polylines
• Meshes

DWG will export in the same hierarchical format used for DXF export.

Sharing to View
View is a web-based visualisation tool that is approachable for all
users, giving you the confidence to share your data with extended
stakeholders and collaborators. With the click of a button in
Leapfrog Geo, upload customised views of your model in a form
that easily communicates what is important, stripping away any
unnecessary complexity.

Leave collaborators notes or draw annotations on specific areas

to direct focus to an area of interest within your data.

When you upload a scene to View, a dialogue box will open with
a warning if the objects selected are too large to upload. Speed is
critical for displaying web-based data and why we have upload
limit sizes, learn what they are.

For more information on View and a demo, visit www.lfview.com.

Central publishing improvements
It is now possible to publish more types of data to Central,
for viewing in Browser including:
• Planned drillholes
• Downhole points
• GIS data
• Images
• Textures
• Cross sections and polylines

Cancel scene export

Exporting large scenes can sometimes take longer than anticipated. Cancel a scene export at any time.

Copy evaluations
Regardless of what object you wish to copy, you can now be sure the evaluation will also be copied to
the duplicate object.

Hyperlinks in comments and notes

Comments and notes in Leapfrog Geo projects support hyperlinks. Link to websites or file locations on
your computer.

Single sign in to View and My Leapfrog

There is a new menu in the upper right-hand corner of the Leapfrog Geo window
that lets you sign in to My Leapfrog and View.

Installation path
The default installation path for Leapfrog products is C:\Program Files\Seequent.

UPGRADE NOTES
Project upgrades
Leapfrog Geo 4.3 is backwards compatible and supports direct project upgrades from any version of
Leapfrog Geo since version 2.0. Projects built in earlier versions of the software must be opened using
Leapfrog Geo 2.0 prior to being opened with 4.3. Backdated versions of the software are available at
leapfrog3d.com.

Hasp driver update

Due to a problem between the Hasp dongle drivers and the recent Windows 10 update, you may have to
wait for the Hasp driver to update to the latest version. This means that your Leapfrog Geo 4.3 Install
will take longer than usual.
