HUMAN RIGHTS SCRIPT
(SHINNAH ANN N. SHIMAKI)

GOOD DAY!
I would like to start my turn by thanking the two of my teacher here, Ms. Angie Mumar
and Ms. Michelle Silverio. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to spread our knowledge
by conducting this symposium.

Now, my part here is to be a Human Rights Advocate.

First, to be a human rights advocate or defender, a person should act to address any
human right/s on behalf of individual groups. Like what I’m going to do here.
Human rights defender seek the promotion and protection of civil and political rights as
well as the promotion, protection and realization of economic and social cultural rights.

So, why people advocate for human rights?

-human rights are needed to protect and preserve every individual’s humanity, to ensure
that every individual can live a life of dignity and a life that is worthy of a human being.

I’ll start my presentation by a quote.

“Human Rights are not privileged conferred by the government. They are every human
being’s entitled by virtue of his humanity.” It was state by mother Teresa.

Now, what do you think is human rights?

-Human rights are norms that aspire to protect all people everywhere from severe political,
legal and social abuse.
-Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, sex, nationality,
ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status.
Examples of human rights are the right to freedom of religion, the right to a fair trial
when charged with a crime, the right not to be tortured, and the right to education.
That’s what human rights means.
So, there’s this called the GENERAL IDEA OF HUMAN RIGHTS.
-THIS SAYS THAT, two people can have the same general idea of human right even
though they disagree about which rights belong on a list such rights and even about
whether universal moral rights exist.
