    A. Title: Installation of Gendered Hand Washing Station

    II. Introduction

    In late December 2019 a new (novel) coronavirus was identified in China causing severe respiratory
    disease including pneumonia. The disease caused as a result of infection is named – coronavirus disease
    (COVID-19). It has been categorized as an airborne High Consequence Infectious Disease. On January
    2020, the Department of Health stated the first of COVID-19 in the country and in a span of 7 days from the
    first confirmed case, the first local transmission was reported.
    At this time, the Philippines is facing the most feared enemy yet, an invisible opponent that infected
    almost 1.6 million Filipinos while more than 28, 000 give up to death and still increasing. Globally, the fight
    against this unseen killer made not only bodies to flop but economies as well. More devastation brought by
    this virus may had been reduced and prevented if people just performed one simple thing – proper hand
    washing.
    According to World health Organization, hands are the main pathways of germs and virus transmission.
    Since COVID-19 can easily spread through body secretions ad droplets produced when someone sneezes
    and inhaled into the lungs of others, and by touching contaminated surface and using that hand to touch are
    face. Therefore, hand hygiene is the most important measure to avoid the transmission of harmful viruses
    and prevent infections.

    III. Rationale

    Adrialuna Elementary School address the call of the Philippine government in flattening the curve of COVID-
    19 Pandemic in the country. DepEd through the school unit had launched through several projects that provide aid to
    the national and local government and to communities in the fight against the virus.
    The WHO strongly recommends handwashing often for at least 20 seconds to prevent transmission of virus
    from person to person. Moreover, WHO emphasizes that this is an essential way to limit the spread of COVID-19 and
    promote a safe healthy environment.
    Additionally, with the adaptation of the “New Normal”, Adrialuna Elementary School move its focus in having a
    virus-free environment and prioritizes the health and well-being of its teachers, students and clients. In this regard, the
    school initiated the construction of Hand Washing Station situated at various locations around the school.
    Hand washing does not only prevent the spread of germs and viruses but it also promotes healthy lifestyle.
    Adrialuna Elementary School believes that clean hands can save lives.

    IV. Objectives
    The following are the objectives of this project proposal, to wit;
    1. To reduce the spread of bacteria and viruses found on hands to safe levels, from person to person and
    from people to contact surfaces which are the main cause of the Coronavirus infection;

    2. To reinforce and practice personal hygiene practices with all employees, students and other
    stakeholders.
    3. To provide an opportunity to develop correct handwashing procedures and then apply the procedures
    on a regular basis.
