SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the period, the learners are expected to:


1. Identify the different types of speeches according to purpose and delivery.
2. Use principles of speech delivery in different situations.
3. Reflect on your learning on the principles of speech delivery.

Materials: Visual Aids (Comic Strips), worksheets, OHP (PowerPoint presentation)

A. Establishing a Purpose for the Lesson  Checking of Attendance


 Recap of the previous lesson

B. Presenting Examples/ Instances of the  Motive Questions:


New Lesson  When was the last time you spoke publicly?
 Do you want to be a great speaker?
 Process students’ answers

C. Discussion of the New Concepts and


Practicing New Skills #1  Activity
 Ask the students to go to their group.
 The teacher will ask a group representative to pick word strip
containing short speech. Paper strips contain gender issues and
topics.
 They will select a representative to deliver what is written. They can
also express their own ideas/opinion regarding their topic.
 Inform the class that each speech has its purpose. The teacher will
flash on screen; Informative, Entertainment, Persuasive speech
 The teacher will discuss the three types of speeches according to
purpose.
D. Discussion of the New Concepts and
Practicing New Skills #2
 Form five groups. Pick a topic. Each group will present their speech.
The teacher will ask the students to express their ideas on the
following topic and assign them to deliver their speech in different
manner.

 These are examples of the different types of speech according to


delivery. Given these examples, how can you differentiate each
speech delivery?
