Hardware Troubleshooting

Basic Hardware Troubleshooting Steps


 Check Device LEDs [Interfaces, Cards, Control Cards, Routing Engines, Power supplies ,
Fans LEDs] check the last section (MX104 LEDs)
 Software Reset.
 Hardware Reset.
 Swapping. ( EX: swap defected card with another working one)
 Replacement.

Troubleshooting commands formulas are different from a device to another

 show version

From show version Command we can know


- System image version.
- Last reload time.
- Reloading reason.
- Router type (ASR 1006).

The show platform command displays the status for RPs, ESPs, SPAs, and the power
supplies.

The state must be OK so that the component can work fine

 How to reset SPA Card

 How to reset SIP Card

Note: It is recommended before resting SPA or SIP hardware to stop it first or shut it down then
rest it hardware

Note:

Use request platform software console attach command to access the SIP console
through the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Router RP console. The SIP console is used to collect
debug information about the Cisco IOS code that is running on the SIP.

The following example shows how to access the SIP console and enter enable mode:
Router# request platform software console attach 0/0

Important Note

We can use attach Command to access the Line Card [ SIP] Itself to show its
uptime through issue command show version also the temperatures values and a lot of
command we can use an running it on SIP card as follow
