Philosophy Education Theory

There are four general philosophical views that can be applied to the world of education.

This kind of view has got great connection with the theories in philosophy education.

Throughout this block will delve on the meaning of philosophy education theories in a practical

world. And because nobody would like to read a boring blog I will have to sprinkle it with some

personal experience in along the way. After having a spiel on the much we much understand we

much however get to learn the basics. What the meaning of philosophy and the philosophical

theories out today in out today’s education system.

Philosophy can be defined as study of problems which are ultimate, an abstract and very

general. The problem in this context is more concerned on the existence of nature, knowledge,

morality, the reasons and human purpose. Philosophical education theories include some of the

processes in learning which according to Duchesne is how children learn what means to be in the

shoes of the teacher, how children’s do relate and how learning is learning. Some of the

education philosophical theories include; behaviorism, cognitivist and humanism.

Theories are always general and not right always but yet to have a perfect model and the

three theories have flaws. These results to my favorite this year’s reading and the one I have

been itching to use and which I have not deemed appropriate up to now. According to Aldridge

& Goldman argues that education is not fulfilling the students with the true potential.

Behaviorism deals with learning and focuses more on the motives and how the motives of the

learners influence learning. On the same point both cognitive and constructive theories

elaborates the differences on the leaning processes and its more focused on how the student

interact with their learning environment. Humanism on the other hand reprioritizes curriculum

with the hope of focusing on what the child need or wants.

In conclusion, we have learnt that teaching is more focused on what is important and it’s

the approach the current education system has taken. The use of philosophical theories in

education has enabled development of education system which is focused on the need of the

child.
