POP WARNER MISSION

The mission of Pop Warner Little Scholars is to enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that young people will use throughout their lives.

Dear Parents and Athletes,

Welcome to the Cypress Lake Hornets family and the 2011 Season! We are all looking forward to getting started. We have been working hard during the off season to ensure that 2011 will be the best it can be. We have upgraded the locker rooms, uniforms and equipment for both football and cheer, and the concession stand. Everyone has come together so we can provide the best and safest environment for all. As a volunteer organization we rely 100% on volunteer efforts. Your contributions- the timely delivery of your athlete to practice and games, concession time, play count, etc. - are vital to the continued success of the program. The quality and quantity of the volunteerism has a direct impact on the overall results. Please step up and do more than your part everybody wins especially your child. CLH maintains an open Board policy. You are welcome and encouraged to attend Board meetings. You are always welcome to address any of us with your questions or concerns, and of course we welcome all positive reinforcement as well! Thank you for your commitment. We are looking forward to enjoying a successful season with you and your family. Cypress Lake Hornets 2011 Board of Directors

Our success will not be judged by wins or loses but rather the rewards and memories our kids take away from the game of football and cheer while learning and having fun

Volunteers:
CLH is administrated, run and coached entirely by volunteers. There is no pay, the hours can be long, the effort is usually unrecognized by the masses, there are very few perks, and in the end there is only the satisfaction that they have done their part in creating the wonderful program called Cypress Lake Hornets. The system works best if more people give a little bit rather than a few people giving until they drop. It is important that everyone help to make the program the best it can be. The key to our overall success lies in the many other people that can give a few hours here and there to make sure that the job is done and done right. You can meet your 4 hour volunteer requirement for your team and the program in many ways. We need assistance with field maintenance, concession stand, mandatory play, equipment, league and regional events, computer work, and paperwork. Contact your Team Parent, Coach, or Board Member and let us know you are out there and we can work together to see how you can best help the program. Thank you very much for

your understanding, cooperation and participation this season.

The ultimate result of the season will be a reflection of our collective efforts lets make it a great one!

Fundraising:
CLH is a nonprofit 501c (3) organization run entirely by volunteers. We rely on the generous donations of local business as well as the strong support during our fundraising events. Inclement Weather

Dangerous weather conditions such as thunder, lightning storms, heavy rains, high winds, extreme heat, etc. will result in termination of any activities in progress. Parents will be responsible for the immediate pick up of their children. The President will decide if inclement weather forces cancellation of activities prior to the start of the days activities. Individual Head Coaches and Team Moms will not make that decision. A football or cheering practice or game will be postponed or cancelled if lightening is seen, recorded by the lightening detector, or if persistent vigorous thunder is heard in the immediate area of the field. An air horn will sound to alert coaches and players of the need to exit the field and return to the locker rooms. If a practice or game is postponed or cancelled, all CLH participants (children and adults) should leave the field area and seek acceptable shelter.

Practices:
For the protection of our younger players and cheerleaders, please utilize the locker room entrance located closest to the concession stand. This applies to: Tiny Mite football and all Cheerleaders. We have implemented a colored flag system to alert participants upon arrival as to the status of practices. The colored flags represent the following: Green Flag Practice is on! Yellow Flag Stay in your vehicle Red Flag Go on home practice is cancelled. Appropriate clothing must be worn at all times; No undergarments showing No bare chests No low cut or revealing tops No tight or short shorts

Practices

**2011 GUIDELINES**

Practice begins on Monday, August 1, 2011. Participants may not begin practice until all required documentation has been completed and received. Practice is 5 days/10 hours a week in August. After Labor Day, practice is reduced to 3 days/6 hours a week for the rest of the season. Practice times range between 6pm to 8:30pm. Practices are determined by the Athletic Committee and are subject to change according to weather or play-off/regional events. Breaks will be scheduled throughout practice; however, they do not count towards the required conditioning and practice hours. Each child must have 20 hours conditioning before eligible to participate in a game. For football this includes 10 hours before pads, and 10 hours in pads. For Cheer this includes 10 hours with no stunting or tumbling and 10 hours with stunting and tumbling. **There are no exceptions to conditioning hours.**

PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD DURING PRACTICE OR AT GAMES BUT MAY SIT IN THE OBSERVATION AREA AS DESIGNATED BY THE SPIRIT AND ATHLETIC DIRECTOR.

Game Day:
New rules are implemented this year regarding where you will be allowed to stand/sit/camp around the football field. The purpose is to help make Game Day safe, comfortable and efficient for EVERYONE involved. No one is allowed on the fence or grass area, in between the 30 yard lines. This is reserved for Cheerleaders and CLH staff, as needed. Pop up tents and umbrellas etc. will NOT be allowed in the lower or mid sections of the bleachers. They will only be permitted along the top row and MUST NOT block the Press Box from viewing the field. Keep in mind, just because you have a canopy in place, does not mean you have "reserved" all the seating space underneath the canopy. Bottom line is BE COURTEOUS TO ALL. Sidelines will only contain only rostered players The touchdown areas will be kept clear; no spectators are allowed within 10 feet of football field boundaries.

You are responsible for keeping uniforms clean and in good condition. Uniforms are to be hand or machine washed on the gentle cycle, hang to dry. Do NOT iron or dry uniforms, as material tends to burn and melt easily. Cheerleaders and Football players must be extremely careful and uniforms covered if eating and drinking. Absolutely NO chocolate, NO colored drinks, mustard, ketchup, etc. as the uniform stains easily. Drinks MUST be clear liquid or water only. No alterations are allowed without permission from the Spirit/Football Director. Uniforms should be returned clean at the end of the season. Cleaning fees will be assessed for uniforms/equipment not returned in the same condition it was received in. Additionally, uniforms/equipment not returned or returned damaged will be the financial responsibility of the participants parent or guardian. Any violation of the uniform rules could result in immediate suspension from the team.
