2. The Importance of Introducing Someone
 The purpose of introducing people is to give them an
opportunity to know each other.
 Beyond just stating names of the two parties, the person
making the introduction is often obligated to establish an
acquaintance and help the two parties initiate a
conversation.
 The right introduction, from the right person, will open doors
that would be difficult or impossible for you to open alone. A
good introduction confers respect and, if you’re lucky, the
beginning of a friendship.
The Arts of Introduction
1. Find an opening. If you want to introduce people to each
other, then it's important to get the timing right.
2. Figure out which person of the two has a higher rank or
authority in social setting/business setting. State the
name of the person being introduced to. This is the ‘higher-
ranking’ person.
3. Figure out the situation, Formal: I would like to introduce....
May I present...etc. Informal: please meet..., this is ...etc.
4. Provide background information to help the people start
a conversation. Offer some details about each, as
appropriate.
