The process of creating a video for presentation purposes from concept to completion
consists of four steps known as planning, structuring, preparation and presentation. Planning
is the most important step in creating a successful presentation of any kind. I plan to make an
environmental impact video that sounds informative to my audience at the planning stage. It
presentation up for success. I decided to make a video explanation about "Social Media'' after
knowing the content of the data and some ideas during my research. OUM students, lecturers
and YouTube viewers will be my target audience. Therefore, I started writing and preparing
the speech at this stage. During writing, it makes me remember the key words or main points
during the presentation. I structure the speech into three criteria when preparing the speech
presentation. First, the introductory criteria which is the content speech, the purpose of my
video presentation and the definition of nature. Second, the body of the content criteria about
my title. I start with a brief explanation of what social media is and give some explanations
about how it affects our generation which is explained to the issue of our main topic. The last
criterion is the conclusion. In this section, I have given some tips on how the audience target i
can prevent the impact of social media on our generation from getting worse before
concluding my speech. After the video was shot, I started the process of organizing, planning
and editing the actual video because my video presentation seemed uninteresting and simple.
Audio, images and slides are the visual aids I use to edit my videos to look interesting and
engaging. There were several challenges I faced while making this video presentation. First,
forget what I was going to say. I spent almost 6 hours to record a clear and effective speech
video due to my nervousness, but I managed to overcome it with more practice before
another attempt. Another challenge is that the speech that has been recorded does not reach
the time period given on this assignment. Therefore, I included several slides, pictures and
other visual aids to make my presentation longer. The language used during this presentation
is spoken language. I use simple language to convey my speech more clearly and better
understood by my audience.
The timeline to complete the entire recording including visual aids is almost three weeks. It
took me almost two weeks to prepare my speech in text. For the video shoot, it took a week
because I had to prepare my slides and practice more before standing in front of the camera. I
spent around 10-12 minutes making this video presentation. I provide a time for each
criterion, so that I can reach my target time frame. Also, to make it look more interesting, I
included some additional videos. The duration given to each video is around 0.50 seconds to
1 minute. In my opinion, creativity and innovation are important nowadays in the world.
Industry, business and education recognize the value of innovation, which is facilitated by
allowing people to play and improvise. Working with different people and doing very
different activities helps foster creativity which is the mother of innovation. As in my video
recording assignment, I have to give a speech about nature. Therefore, I need something other
than my voice to make my audience understand clearly and quickly. Providing visual aids
will help my speech attract and be remembered by my target audience. I have learned that in
order to make an interesting video presentation, we must learn how to be more creative and
innovative in providing visual aids such as slides, additional videos and so on to attract our
use creative ideas as a solution tool in completing our tasks. It communicates creatively in a
way that best suits my target audience. These skills create inventive problem solving for me
and my audience. I can do things differently to convey my thoughts, ideas and speech to the
audience in a way they understand. Creativity goes hand in hand with innovation. And there
During the process of making the video, there were many mistakes that happened and some
mistakes made me feel that I could have done it in a better way. At first, there were some
mistakes in my pronunciation that I failed to speak. It was a new experience for me to deliver
a speech to thin young people. When speaking in front of the camera, I have a tendency to
speak very quickly. During presentations when I notice myself speaking quickly, I try to slow
down to a more natural pace. There was more than one occasion when overthinking my rate
of speech caused me to forget what I was going to say. As a result, my speech sounds shaky
and there are several pauses when I forget what I want to say. Also, I find that the structure of
the presentation is very important so that the audience can follow it and understand the
and therefore difficult to follow. But I managed to reorganize my presentation and hopefully I
will try to choose a structure that suits my topic for future presentations Usually, more time is
needed to research the topic of the presentation because I am familiar with the topic and only
need to research some small parts about nature and the effects of global warming around the
world. Therefore, I must be careful in delivering the speech clearly, so that my audience is
not confused or misinformed. But, with more practice I have no doubt that I can become an
effective speaker. Also, another small problem I have is that during filming, it takes a long
time to figure out how to edit the video and finalize it. Poor video quality can be attributed to
camera glitches during video recording. This will make it even more annoying to complete
this shoot. However, going to learn this new editing skill I was able to finish my editing on
time. Completing this video recording assignment has taught me how to give an effective
presentation. Perhaps the most important thing I learned is that the way you present your
information is actually more important than the information itself. Being a good presenter
requires you to prepare thoroughly before each speech and practice speaking in front of an
audience as often as possible. Learning these important facts and practicing how to work well
with technology has been very rewarding for me. In addition, this assignment also made me
think outside the box and consider interesting content for video presentations.
presentation, I approached one of my friends and showed him my video presentation. I asked
him if my speech was an explanation or a report. He gave me very clear and effective
especially to viewers who want to save nature from global warming, but I need to look at my
presentation style. The language I used was appropriate but not very clear. There are some of
my words that become unclear when the delivery of the speech is too fast and can cause the
my speed rate every time I practice for a presentation. This will keep most of my talk in the
normal conversational range. He also suggested that I always keep an eye on the camera
when I was talking with the audience. That will make the audience more focused and will
trust our point of view. He said that eye contact can make the audience understand and
captured everything I explained to them. Finally, I thank him for the ideas and suggestions he
skills in the future and beyond by implementing the tips he gave me. He is not only point out
my mistakes and gave suggestions, but he has helped me to improve and overcome the
am a script writer, speaker and also a producer. It made me feel I had developed self-
discipline, which is essential for effective learning. There are so many advantages of
recording this video presentation. First, I gradually developed strength and confidence in all
transferable skills, such as communication, information technology as I used visual aids and
editing applications, creativity and innovation. This skill has developed throughout the
recording of this video. I love using all kinds of technology to edit and deliver my best video
performances. In addition, I was able to think outside the box to come up with new ideas that
I had never done before for past presentations. Another advantage is this video presentation
will be memorable for all my target audience as well as for myself. With the help of visual
tools, I easily make video presentations interesting and get the attention of my target
audience. According to the animation, it is too easy for the audience to explain what I want to
say and show. But everything has its pros and cons. So do the video recording task.
Technology always disappoints. Blurry and choppy videos are frustrating to watch. This will
make it more annoying to complete this task. Another drawback is the low audio quality. It
may be difficult to hear the speaker without earphones or if the speaker is not close to the
microphone. Not all cell phones or laptops have the best quality for audio. In my personal
opinion, I feel that video recording is not recommended because face-to-face presentation is
much better than video recording. Students can perform more comfortably, confidently and
are more easily assessed by tutors. Also, the presentation will be more fun with a question
and answer session unlike a video recording. It allows the audience not only to hear the
information but also to observe closely the speaker's body language, facial expressions and
gestures.
Finally, I'm amazed at how much I learned from this one little assignment when I look back
on my presentation and the preparation I did. Putting on a show can be an exhilarating and
Every step of making a video presentation is important. I have gained more knowledge in
organizing and editing my own video presentations. I have faced many challenges and
problems that brought new changes in my behavior and attitude to solve them
tasks within a certain period of time. I also realized how important speech structuring in text
and visual aids are in bringing a clear vision to my audience of my speech. There are always
advantages and disadvantages in making videos, but the challenge is how I will deal with
them and make my video presentation successful. Assessment or task feedback is very
important to students like me to improve our communication skills to do better in the future. I
would like to thank my E-tutors, classmates, friends and family for their support and
