A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF A CONVENIENCE STORE IN BARANGAY

LANTAY

Introduction

Lantay is a barangay in the municipality of Pangantucan, in the province

of Bukidnon. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 2,254. This represented

3.98% of the total population of Pangantucan. Lantay is situated at approximately 7.8264,

124.8060, in the island of  Mindanao. Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at 725.1

meters or 2,378.9 feet above mean sea level. The household population of Lantay in the 2015 Census was
2,266 broken down into 450 households or an average of 5.04 members per household.

A convenience store is a small retail business that stocks a range of everyday items

such as coffee, groceries, snack foods, confectionery, soft drinks, ice creams, tobacco

products, lottery tickets, over the counter drugs, toiletries, newspapers and magazines. In

some jurisdiction, convenience stores are licensed to sell alcoholic drinks, although many

jurisdictions limit such beverages to those with relatively low alcoholic content, like beer

and wine.

A convenience store may be part of a gas/petrol station, so consumers can purchase

goods while refueling third vehicle. It may be located alongside a busy road, in an urban

area, near a railway or railroad station or transport hub. In some article convenience stores

have long shopping hours and some remain open 24 hours.

Convenience store usually charge significantly higher prices than convectional

grocery stores or supermarkets, as they buy smaller quantities of inventory at higher per-

unit prices from whole sellers. Customers benefit from their longer open hours, more

convenient and greater number of locations and shorter cashier lines.

Hypothesis/Experimentation

We will identify on what are the possible demand of the costumers? What are the market trends?

And what are the potential customers of the start-up? The next step is to develop an ingenious strategy to

attract those customers toward us.What if we offer a delivery service for our goods? What if we offer an

easy way of paying through bank transactions like G-Cash?

Our store is going to operate a standard and registered neighborhood convenience store that will

retail a wide range of items from both locally manufacturers and international manufacturers just like any

other registered and standard convenience store in any part of the world.

Aside from retailing items, we will secure license to carry out money transfer and
mobile money services. We are in the convenience store business to make profits and give
our customers value for their money. These are some of the products that we will retail in

 Groceries
 Soft drinks
 Toiletries,
 Call cards
 Newspapers and magazines
 Liquors
 Tobacco products
 Food service
 Packaged beverages
 Candy and snacks
 Beer
 Non – alcoholic beverages
 Other Related Items and services (Mobile money outlets and money transfer services)

Our store do not intend to start a convenience business like the usual mom and pop
business around the street corner; our intention of starting a convenience store business is
to build a standard convenience store that will be a one – stop shop for household needs
which is why we will ensure that we put the right structure in place that will support the
kind of growth that we have in mind while setting up the business.
Our intention of starting just one outlet of our convenience store in Lantay Pangantucan,
Bukidnon is to test run the business for a period of 6 to 12 months to know if we will invest more money,
expand the business and then open other chains of convenience stores all over Bukidnon and perhaps also
sell franchise through the Mindanao.We are quite aware that there are several convenience stores all over
Pangantucan and even in the same location where we intend locating ours, which is why we are following

the due process of establishing a business.

Observation

A convenience store is not merely a place where customers come to buy practical

necessities, it has to be somewhere they can enjoy and take pleasure in discovering things

like having fun with the views without paying it. In that way our convenience store is not

just for people who live in Lantay only, but for all people who can see ,travelers, passerby

and people who knows it.

In our observation, the previous convenient store that was built in Lantay

Pangantucan, Bukidon was a bit boring and lacks of strategies to gain profit. The only

product that is profitable there are the soft drinks especially the coca cola. They are highly

affected during the Covid-19 that happens until now.

Discussion

Our convenience store aside from our products inside the store, we also have

an any kind of statue and any kinds of transformers for kids that people may have a fun

without knowing the hours, In that way we have an extension like lunch break area

we have also BBQ,Fried chicken,rice etc. Our extension also has a unique design in that

way if our customers done eating they can also take a pictures.we have also mini night

hotels so that for our customers take a rest or for the customers who need comfortable

place. In additional we have also swimming area bathroom area and toilets with a little

amount. We’ll make our convenient store unique from others. The interior designs are

compatible for today’s generation.

Conclusion

Therefore Every customer visits in our convenience store feels special and comfortable because
we are not focus only in one thing. One thing is common with convenience store business, the larger a

convenience store (including varieties of quality items at affordable prices), the larger the numbers of
customers that will patronize them.Although we may not be as large as the biggest convenience stores or
retailers in Lantay, but we will ensure that within our capacity we make available a wide range
of items (household needs) et al from different brands both local and foreign manufacturers in our store.

Recommendation
In other to continue to be in business and grow, we must continue to sell the products that are
available in our store which is why we will go all out to empower or sales and marketing team to deliver.
In summary, REMP Convenience Store will adopt the following sales and marketing approach to
win customers over;

 Introduce our convenience store by sending introductory letters to residence, business owners and

organizations in and around Lantay Pangantucan, Bukidnon . Open our convenience store with an open

house party for people in the community

 Advertise our business in community based newspapers, local TV and radio stations
 List our business on yellow pages ads (local directories)
 Leverage on the internet to promote our business
 Engage in direct marketing
 Encourage word of mouth marketing (referrals) from satisfied and loyal customers
