INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL – WEDA 50
Failure to follow all instructions listed below, may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Before using the machine, read carefully these instructions and keep them in a safe place.
These safety recommendations have been compiled from international safety standards. Local regulations
must also be checked and observed.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
WORK AREA
Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas invite accidents.
Do not operate pumps in explosive atmospheres, such as presence of flammable liquids, gases or
dust. Pumps creates sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating a pump. Distraction can cause you to
loose control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Pumps must be plugged into an outlet properly installed and grounded in accordance with all codes
and ordinances. Never remove the grounding prong or modify the plug in any way. Do not use any
adaptor plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet in
properly grounded. If the pumps should electrically malfunction or break down, grounding provides a low
resistance path to carry electricity away from the user.
Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There
is an increase risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry the pumps or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep
cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged cords increase the risk of electric
shock.
Use a network protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a pump. Do not use
pump while tired or under influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while
operating pumps result in serious personal injury.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose closing or jewellery. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing,
and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
Always use approved safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. The following safety equipment
applies to operators and other personnel in the immediate vicinity of the working zone.
Safety helmet.
Ear protectors.
Dust mask in dusty environments.
Protective gloves.
Protective shoes.
Goggles.
Remove adjusting keys or switches before turning the pump on. A wrench or a key that is left attached
to a rotating part of the pump may result in personal injury.
2/19
INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL – WEDA 50
The admissible sound level of 85 dB (A), can be exceeded because of the machine and/or the
application. Long time exposure to loud noise without ear protectors can cause permanent damage
to hearing.
Never operate the pump without the strainer. It both protects the pumps and the pipes.
Do not force pump. Use the correct pump for your application. The correct pump will do the job better
and safer at the rate for which it is designed.
The use of the machine is restricted to the applications specified in the product literature.
Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories,
or storing the pump. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the pump accidentally.
Store idle pumps out of reach of children and other untrained persons. Pumps are dangerous in the
hand of untrained users.
Maintain pumps with care. Properly maintained pumps are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that
may affect the pumps operation. If damaged, have the pump serviced before using. Many accidents
are caused by poorly maintained pumps.
The machine must not be modified without prior consent of the manufacturer. Use only original
parts. If modifications are made without prior consent of the manufacturer there is a risk of serious
injury to the personal.
SERVICE
Pump service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed
by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.
When servicing a pump, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance
section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance Instructions may create a
risk of electric shock or injury.
Make sure that the signs about using, safety, and maintenance are always legible.
Always change damaged parts immediately. Change wear parts in due time.

GENERAL
The WEDA submersible drainage pumps are designed for pumping lightly contaminated water.
DESIGN
The heavy duty light weight aluminium construction includes a cooling jacket ensuring adequate motor
cooling at all times.
The WEDA LINE pumps are in 'plug and pumping design’, with built-in full overheat motor protection.
The versions with NVB allow automatic operation.
The unique cartridge type seal package can be easily replaced on site with only minimum downtime.
For demanding applications as in construction works and mining, the impellers are made for wear resistant
Hi-Chrome iron and all other components are rubber lined.
The impeller clearance is easily adjustable to compensate for wear.

To keep the pump performance, the gaps must be as small as possible. The gap between the impeller and
the wear plate is adjustable with trim washers. The gap between the impeller and the diffuser is adjusted by
alternatively tightening the nuts fixing the diffuser. After adjustment the impeller must be capable of rotation
by hand.

INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL – WEDA 50
A pump equipped with NVB will not start if the wrong phase sequence is connected, or in case of
phase failure.
If the pump does not stop when the water comes to at the strainer level, open the pump cover and adjust the
NVB potentiometer to the "-" direction to get the stop.
If the pump stop before the water comes to the strainer level, adjust to the "+" direction.
Description
The NVB is an electronic device used to control a pumping operation. It
is connected to a set of 2 x electrodes located on the pump contactor
cover.
10/19
INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL – WEDA 50
Features
Pumping control of the pump according to the water level.
Pump protection, the pump will stop face to :
o Wrong phase sequence (shift 2 wires in the plug to get the proper sequence).
o Phase failure.
o Overload (clogged strainer, etc…).
o Overheating: controlled by thermos-switches inside the motor winding.
o Running without water.
Pumping operation
The pump starts when the water reaches the electrodes and stops when air is sucked through the strainer.
The water level, for starting, can be moved down using extension wires to connect on the electrodes.
The water level, for stopping, can be adjusted using the NVB potentiometer:
o If the pump does not stop, when no water, turn the potentiometer clockwise until it stops.
o If the pump stops before air suction, turn the potentiometer anti-clockwise.
NOTE: A jump (4) is delivered with the kit / pump. When connected on the electrode, the water level control
is disabled on the pump continuously runs.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
ADJUSTMENTS
You have 2 different potentiometers for adjustment.
1) Res A on the top of the NVB box
2) Res B in the box on the electronic board
The pump doesn’t stop when the water level sinks below the strainer
A) Turn "Res A" clockwise! OK?
B) "Res A" back to mid position !
Put the R-phase cable even through the second hole in the NVB-box ! OK ?
C) Turn "Res A" clockwise! OK?
D) "Res A" back to mid position
Turn "Res B" counter clockwise (on the electronic board - open up the NVB-box -adjust and
close the box again) OK ?
E) Turn "Res B" according to D) above until the pump stops. Then fine adjust with "Res A".
The pump stops before the water level sinks below the strainer
A) Just 1 cable through one of the holes in the NVB-box !
B) Turn "Res A" counter clockwise ! OK ?
C) "Res A" back to mid position !Turn "Res B" clockwise (on the electronic board - open up the
NVB-box adjust and close the box again) OK ?
D) Turn "Res B" according to B) above until the pump stops when the water level sinks down to the
strainer. Fine adjust with "Res A".
