Note: (l) Candidates should attempt Question No. 1 from Section-A and Question
No. 5 from Section-B which are compulsory, and any three of the
remaining questions, selecting at least one from each Section.

SECTION -A

1. Answer any three ofthe following:


(a) Trace the time and energy demands during the stages of the family life cycle. 20
(b) Emphasise the application of work simplification techniques to alleviate the
time and energy costs of household chores, citing appropriate examples. 20
(c) Outline the significant savings and investment plans available for a family. 20
(d) Give an account of the description, advantages and disadvantages of the
various types of building materials available in the market for house
construction. 20

2. Bring out the broad principles of Interior Design while incorporating the
components of furniture, window and wall treatments, floor coverings and lighting. 60

3. (i) In order to be an efficient consumer, a basic understanding of the properties


of textile fibres is needed. Justify the statement. 20

(ii) Comment on the following: (any three) 6 X 3 = 18


(a) Wardrobe planning- its importance in family clothing.
(b) Blended and novelty yarns.
(c) Textural and functional finishes.
(d) Indigenous dyes-its popularity in recent years.

(iii) Explain briefly : 10+ 12 = 22


(a) Different techniques of fabric construction.
(b) Hand printing methods commonly used in fabric enrichment.

be done effectively in rural community with examples. 60

8. What are the important fields covered in extension ? How A. V. aids can speed up
rate of development in our country ? Discuss by giving appropriate examples. 60
