Seminar – This is a type of academic activity happened within an instruction or

organized by schools, private and public company. The setup of seminar is there is an
invited expert in the field of the given topic called as the speaker, and this person will
share this knowledge thoughts and opinion about the topic being presented.

a seminar allows for small groups to meet and discuss academic topics or required reading, as
well as set goals for research and continuing investigation.

A seminar is a form of academic instruction, either at an academic institution or offered by a

commercial or professional organization. It has the function of bringing together small groups for
recurring meetings, focusing each time on some particular subject, in which everyone present is
requested to participate.

Seminars and conferences are formal meetings that are organized and attended by participants with
the aim of discussing a specific agenda of common interest.

A seminar is a lecture or presentation delivered to an audience on a particular topic or set of topics

that are educational in nature. It is usually held for groups of 10-50 individuals. A seminar is
frequently held at a hotel meeting space or within an office conference room. Increasingly, the term
"seminar" is used to describe a commercial event (though sometimes free to attend) where
delegates are given information and instruction in a subject such as property investing, other types
of investing, Internet marketing, self-improvement or a wide range of topics, by experts in that
field. There is a speaker who give lecturer with highlights, scope, importance, benefits & limitation
on the respective topic as the lecturer finish, audience ask questions. Seminars are educational
events that feature one or more subject matter experts delivering information primarily via lecture
and discussion. A seminar is often one person giving perhaps an hour-long lecture, although there
could be more than one speaker as well.

A seminar may be defined as a gathering of people for the purpose of discussing a stated
topic. Such gatherings are usually interactive sessions where the participants engage in
discussions about the delineated topic. The sessions are usually headed or led by one or
two presenters who serve to steer the discussion along the desired path.

A seminar is a commercial program where attendees are given information

or training about a specific topic.

Training – As compared to the seminar training has participation between the speaker
and the participant, the attendees after listening to the talk of the speaker are now

once ability and capacity to do task. In this case both the trainer and the trainee are
exerting an effort to learn the necessary skills.

the act, process, or method of one that trains. b : the skill, knowledge, or experience acquired by one
that trains.
Training is the process of being conditioned or taught to do something, or is the process of
learning and being conditioned.
When you teach a new employee how the business works, this is an example of training.
When the employee is learning how the business works, this is an example of training.
When you are running every day to prepare for a marathon, this is an example of training.
From the point of view of the individual employee, there are three main aims of training:  Improve the
individual's level of awareness. Increase an individual's skill in one or more areas of expertise.
Increase an individual's motivation to perform their job well.

the process of learning the skills you need to do
a particular job or activity
Training constitutes a basic concept in human resource development.
It is concerned with developing a particular skill to a desired standard
by instruction and practice. Training is a highly useful tool that can
bring an employee into a position where they can do their job
correctly, effectively, and conscientiously. Training is the act of
increasing the knowledge and skill of an employee for doing a
particular job.

Definition of Training:
Dale S. Beach defines training as ‘the organized procedure by which
people learn knowledge and/or skill for a definite purpose’. Training
refers to the teaching and learning activities carried on for the primary
purpose of helping members of an organization acquire and apply the
knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes needed by a particular job
and organization.
Training is the process of learning the skills that you need for a particular job or activity.

training is teaching, or developing in oneself or others, any skills and knowledge or fitness that

relate to specific useful competencies. Training has specific goals of improving one's capability,
capacity, productivity and performance.

Training is an activity leading to skilled behavior, teaching employees the basic

skills they need to perform their jobs. The heart of a continuous effort
designed to improve employee competency and organizational performance.

Training typically focuses on providing employees with specific skills or

helping those correct deficiencies in their performance.
It is a short-term learning process that involves acquiring knowledge,
sharpening skills, concepts, rules, or changing attitudes and behaviors to
enhance the performance of employees.

Training is the act of increasing the knowledge and skills of an employee for
performing the job assigned to him. Different scholars of management have
defined training. Some important definitions of training are as under.

Workshop – This may be an actual activity performed by both the trainer and the
trainee, this type of event needs a rooms or building establishment as compared to the
seminar and training workshop has a more on participants share than the speakers
share. The expert will just give instructions and directions on what the attendees must
do to accomplish the given task. So it‟s more on the participant‟s effort to do the task.

A workshop is a period of discussion or practical work on a particular subject in which a group

of people share their knowledge or experience.

A workshop is a long interactive meeting or educational session designed to create a

specialized result. Workshops are longer than the typical business meeting and
require more preparation beforehand. Workshops typically involve a central trainer or
facilitator who works with a set of sponsors to design the sequence of presentations,
plan collaborative activities, and ensure the workshop will lead to the desired result.
Workshops emphasize hands-on interaction. Strategic planning often includes one or
more planning workshops. Kickoffs, team chartering, requirements analysis, product
design, value stream mapping, and other meetings with large collaborative
deliverables may all be conducted as workshops.

WORKSHOP
A workshop is a series of educational and work sessions. Small groups of people meet together over
a short period of time to concentrate on a defined area of concern. Purposes for workshops may
vary. Examples: Informing, Problem-solving, Training. In  education , a workshop is a brief intensive
course, a seminar or a series of meetings emphasizing interaction and exchange of information
among a usually small number of participants:

@such as a writing workshop, a gathering of writers for critique and inspiration,

@an academic workshop, a smaller version of an academic conference.

@Training workshop

In the workshop SIMULATION exercise take place related to the topic which is conducting by
speaker means learning while doing he / she work. A workshop has the sense of being a relatively
small event with all parties involved in the discussion (although this is not always the
case). Workshops tend to be smaller and more intense than seminars. This format often involves
students practicing their new skills during the event under the watchful eye of the instructor.
The main difference between seminars and workshops is that seminars are usually more
academic and less hands-on than workshops. Seminars are events that are mostly geared
towards educational topics and usually feature one or more experts on the subject matter.
On the other hand, workshops are generally less formal and require more attendee
participation than seminars. The main thrust of workshops is for the participants to gain new
skills during the event under the guidance of the instructor.

Workshops tend to be more hands-on, while seminars are generally geared

more toward learning about a particular topic or related subtopics. They
might involve guest speakers who are experts in the relevant field to give
credibility to the information being presented.

representatives. It should not be confused with event management, which is a process of
organizing, promoting and conducting events.

Event marketing is a promotional strategy that involves face-to-face contact between brands and
their customers at events like conferences, trade shows and seminars. Each event is different, it has
different audiences, different content and different culture. Therefore, it deserves to be marketed in
its own unique way. To succeed, the event marketer of the future needs to stay on top of the event

SYMPOSIUM

Symposium is meeting of a number of experts in a particular field at which papers are presented by
specialists on particular subjects and discussed with a view to making recommendations concerning
the problems under discussion. Symposium: refer to any academic conference, or a style of
university class characterized by an openly discursive format, rather than a lecture and question–
answer format. The term symposium has come to refer to any event where multiple speeches are
made. A symposium suggests that more than one person is speaking. A Symposium is typically a
more formal or academic gathering, featuring multiple experts delivering short presentations on a
particular topic.

 A symposium is a casual gathering and includes refreshments and entertainment.

Symposiums usually take place in one room or lecture hall with all
participants attending the entire program in a single day. Besides regular
presentations, symposiums include sessions that invite more discussion and
exchange of ideas, such as panel discussions. The presenters and panelists
are renowned experts in the particular topic of the symposium.

In contrast to large annual conferences, symposiums are usually one-off

events, organized when the need arises for in-depth discussion of a particular
“hot topic” of research, and as such, the themes may change from year to
year.

The presenters and panelists at a symposium are usually a group of people

who already know each other at least a little because of their shared interest
and expertise in the topic of the symposium.

Students and trainees who attend a symposium are usually there as audience
members to learn from more established researchers rather than to present
their own work, since flash talks and poster sessions are less common at
symposiums than conferences.

There may be a social event such as a cocktail reception or a speakers dinner

following the symposium, but it is usually a more formal networking occasion
rather than a party.

A summit can mean either a meeting between people who are interested in the same subject or the peak
of the mountain. Although originally meant to describe a meeting between the heads of state,
summit can be used to describe any gathering of people who care deeply about the same topic.

 Summits are all about discussion and idea-sharing. You can expect to participate in high-level
conversations, and to hear from thought leaders in the topic area. Also, expect everyone at the summit to
attend all of the sessions, as opposed to break-out panels. “You go to a summit when you want to learn a
lot,” Lutter explains.
 Summits tend to be formal and dedicated to the interests of a specific group of people. Lora
Georgieva, marketing specialist at ProExpo Services, calls out a few examples: top physicians, surgeons,
government representatives, company executives, or other high-caliber industry leaders.
 Summits typically focus on a specific problem. For instance, the problem may be a trending
international situation. Whatever the focus, summit trade events will have a well-structured agenda with
public announcements from leaders and public figures who will try to influence attendees with their
position or presented solutions. “At a summit, groups come together to tackle a problem and hopefully
walk away with a solution or an idea of how to move forward. Afterwards, attendees tend to have a better
sense of belonging and comradery,” says Claire O’Keefe, event producer at Canvas Meeting Space.

Team building events were exceptionally popular a few years ago but you will still likely
have to plan for one of these events at some point. The scope of the event will depend on
the client but could be small scale with a few dozen people to something much larger with
several hundred.
Team building events can be a real mix. From outdoor activities to indoor competitions,
seminars and presentations to genuine physical and mental challenges. Venues are as
equally diverse from outward bound centres or forests to concert halls or stately homes.
