Activity 1. Compare and contrast the 7-crystal system.

At least seven different crystal systems are used to categorize crystals based on their atomic
configurations or lattices. The seven-crystal system's comparison and contrast structures are
shown below:

Cubic System

- It is the intersection of all three axes at right angles and equal lengths. It also goes by
the name "isometric system." Diamond-shaped cubes, octahedrons, rhombic
dodecahedrons, and other shapes can be found in crystals.

Hexagonal System

- This system has four crystallographic axes, three of which are equal, or equilateral,
horizontal axes that are located at 120 degrees from one another, and one of which is
vertical and perpendicular to the other three. Compared to the horizontal axes, this
vertical axis might be either longer or shorter. Arsenic, quartz, (the infamous) dolomite,
emerald, ruby, and many other substances are examples of this.

Tetragonal System

- It consists of two axes that share the same plane and are equally long. Both long and
short main axes can be present, and all three of them meet at right angles. Pyramids and
four-sided prisms are a few examples of them

Trigonal System

- Also known as the rhombohedral system, it resembles the hexagonal system in terms
of its axes and angles. The trigonal crystal's cross-section consists of three sides. Agate,
amethyst, calcite, and other crystals are examples of trigonal crystals.

Orthorhombic system

- Three axes that are all of different lengths and at right angles to one another make up
this crystal system. Topaz and tanzanite are only a few examples.

Monoclinic System
- Additionally, this includes three axes with various lengths. Two of them are at an angle
to one another, while the third is slanted. Primitive and base-centered monoclinic cells
are the two possible forms of monoclinic systems. Moonstone, serpentine, epidote, and
other examples.

Triclinic System

- This crystal system's three axes likewise have three axes with varying lengths and a
stronger tendency to point in the same direction. Rhodonite and turquoise are a few
examples.

Activity 2. Compare and contrast the 3 Bravais lattice of the cubic crystal system.

- The body-centered cubic lattice and the face-centered cubic lattice are both non-
primitive since they comprise more than one lattice. The three Bravais Lattice of the
cubic crystal system has a cubic symmetry that distinguishes the simple or primitive
cubic.
