OUTLOOK AND STRATEGY
(from the JPMorgan Asia Equity Dividend Fund Monthly Commentary dated July 31, 2022)
Markets– Asian equities experienced another volatile month, ending July flat amid global recession concerns and high inflation.

Helped – Stock selection in IT and communication services.

Hurt – Stock selection in Financials and Industrials.

Month in review

Asian equities experienced another volatile month, ending July flat amid global recession concerns and high inflation. The US 10-year treasury
yield ended lower, and the US dollar marginally strengthened. China/ Hong Kong underperformed while ASEAN and India outperformed. Growth
outperformed value and high dividend indices this month.

The Target Fund lagged the benchmark mainly attributable to the style headwind as growth rebounded.

On the positive side, stock selection in communication services was the leading contributor. Notably, the overweight position in Telkom Indonesia
contributed while not owning Tencent helped. Stock selection in Information Technology was another key contributor as the Fund Manager’s
overweight positions in Samsung and TSMC contributed as those stocks performed well. Other key contributors include several Chinese names
such as owning China Yangtze Power and avoiding Meituan and JD.com.

On the negative side, stock selection in financials detracted as Chinese banks faltered on the back of property concerns, while the did not own
some Australian and Indian banks which fared better. Elsewhere the Fund Manager’s stock selection in the industrials and consumer staples
sectors underperformed, most notably due to holdings in the Chinese market, such as Xinyi Glass, Yili, and Wuliangye. Other key detractors
include Haier Smart Home, Jason Furniture, and Rio Tinto, which were sold off due to a combination of concerns around the Chinese and global
economies.

During the month, the Fund Manager trimmed their positions in real estate and Chinese financials. They increased their positions in some IT
names and consumer staples

Looking ahead

Similar to last month, three big themes are driving the markets: the Russia-Ukraine war and its effects, rising inflation and yields, and China’s
domestic growth challenges.

China’s long-term growth objectives are seen as a key counterweight to recent stresses, and it is worth noting that valuations across many Chinese
equity sectors now look more attractive than in recent history.

A wider range of outcomes should be expected for many economies due to the dispersion in commodity dependency and correlation to global
growth.

The Fed is expected to continue raising rates throughout the year to tame US inflation. China, on the other hand, has been trying to boost domestic
growth by employing stimulus plans while balancing zero- COVID policies.

Amid these various market forces, the Fund Manager maintain a diversified positioning in quality franchises, defensives, and value cyclicals for
both income and growth opportunities. Key overweights are in financials followed by consumer staples and real estate.
