Well points are typically installed in lines or rings around the excavation, and are pumped by diesel or
electrically powered pumps, with associated header mains, water discharge pipes, power supply generators,
electrical controls and monitoring systems.
Proposed Structure-: The works for the proposed development involves the excavation in Clinker silo 1 as per
the following data.
Well point system-: The well point system using materials and equipments followings are below
Procedure-: Dewatering is defined as the removal of the ground water to a level below the normal water table,
to enable excavation and construction to be carried out in suitable and safe condition.
Proposed dewatering system-: It’s proposed to install a single – stage well point system to control the ground
water within each excavation area.
Well point dewatering involves the installation of riser pipes with a filter section on the lower portion,
connected into a common header pipe from which the water can be pumped by a vacuum assisted pump to a
convenient discharge point.
Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC) riser pipes shall be driven into the ground through the use of high
pressure water. The jetting pump is connected to a lance through which the high pressure water is injected into
the ground, forming a borehole into which the well point can be installed.
Holding brackets for steel header pipe-: Holding brackets must be used to install steel header pipe from
0.5m above the existing water table.
Wellpoint installation-: It will be installed into the boreholes as per requirement wise. High pressure
Once the well point is installed the lance is held in this position until the water being ejected out through
the top of the boreholes runs clean.
Header pipe network-: Upon completion of the installation of the pre-de-termined number of well
points, the well points shall be connected to the header pipe network by means of swing pipes, which
turn is connected to the dewatering pump.
Drain system& Discharge-: The collected water is discharge in pit around the perimeter of the excavation site
within the soil layers. After that the water will be collected from drain and discharge through hose pipe into the
plant or market drain.

Safety-:Work will be carried out in accordance with action safety documentation. Should wear proper PPE’S,
Continues supervision from competent person those who are involved in the dewatering activities .Persons
competency should be ensure previous to start the work .Equipments safety (avoid spillages) dewatering
machine handling, machine guard system, electrical safety.
Electrical safety: Electrical power drop from adequate panel through ELCB/MCCB, adequate Power cables will be
use for the installation, cables should be dragging by designed and protected unauthorized entry, handling and
vehicle movements. Panel earthing ensure and protected, dewatering pump earthing (if it is Electrical), fire
extinguisher should be install.
Program-: The dewatering installation shall be dependent on the site access and working space available. The
dewatering system needs to be installed and operational before the excavation below the water table begins.
After the method statement has been approved, the instruction from CIMCO – SA to begin mobilization should
be given. Works will be carried out in accordance with the attached program not take account of any delays due
to authority approvals for the structural works.
