airnav is a unique solution allowing Airline Customers, MRO’s, A/A, Leasing Companies, Airbus partners and Suppli-
ers to list, download, browse and search complete Airbus technical documentation.
This new browser, available online, is:

The List of Effective Technical Data is also available under My Library. It is now called My LETD and can be down-
loaded in the form of a zip containing a PDF and CSV file (1).

2. PRE-REQUISITES

airnav is available online on AirbusWorld and AirbusSupply. The user can access it from any device (PC/Laptop or
tablet devices).
X
This online version of airnav relies on the same prerequisites as the AirbusWorld Hardware and Software pre-
requisites.
X
The following internet browsers are compatible with airnav :
 Google Chrome version 56 and above
 Internet Explorer version 11 and above
 Safari version 10 and above
For the Multi-Download, the following prerequisites are necessary:

 Any java versions from 1.7 (32 bit only)
 Proxy declaration has to be set
For Proxy declaration information, please contact the local IT team of your company.
3. TECHNICAL DATA NOTIFICATIONS
The means to be notified once a new technical data document is issued is detailed in the AirbusWorld How do I sub-
scribe to notification FAQ.

4. HOW TO ACCESS AIRNAVX
4.1 THROUGH AIRBUSWORLD

airnav can be accessed using its dedicated tile available in the “app catalogue” page of AirbusWorld.

4.2 THROUGH AIRBUSSUPPLY

For supplier entities airnav can be accessed using the direct link available on the homepage of AirbusSupply:

There are 4 different entry points in airnav application. Each of them will be detailed further below.

5.1 AIRNAVX COMMON MAIN FEATURES
X
airnav offers a set of various features; some of them are common between the three sections and will be detailed
further below.
5.1.1 airnavX working context
X
The airnav working context is located on the left side of the application. It allows the users to apply various filters on

their library/search results for refinement purpose and can be accessed from every airnav tab.

The filters differ from one section to another and therefore will be detailed further on each section chapters.
Note: Specific manuals such as the DFPRM contain a Part Number filter in the document view working context:

5.1.2 Pre-selecting the working context through AirbusWorld
X
airnav working context is already pre-filtered according to the AirbusWorld context selected by the user. The filter
X
thus created will be applied automatically upon launching airnav application.
However the user can update these filters afterwards.

5.1.3 Consultation of technical data documentation (Document view)
The user can consult the manual or the attachments using the Browse button ( ) available. By clicking on the
Browse button, the user will switch to document view.

Several features are available while browsing manual in Document view. They are detailed below:
Button Function
Used to set the Data to hidden Mode based on the

effectivity / applicability set in the airnav context
Used to view a document in a new tab. Helps to view

the document and figures if any in two separate panes
side by side.

Used to open the manual in consultation mode (Docu-
ment View). When this button is activated, the Docu-
ment view opens in a new Tab.
Used to move from one figure / illustration to another.
Used to print the content currently being consulted.

Note: The “collapsed” sections (if any) will be expanded
and the illustrations (if any) will be printed at the end.
Used to open the images in a new tab. This would help

view the figures better and easy provides additional
options.

Next/previous search results highlighted word
Launch the MSN comparison view (see §5.2.5)
Launch the Allowed Part(s) consultation tab (see § 5.5)

Some additional functionalities are available for easy consultation of illustrations. This includes functions such as zoom
in, zoom out, rotate, highlight hotspots, etc.

Search any value displayed in the illustration. Using

this option helps you highlight in red the item in the
illustration
This option can be used to hide a selected part of the

This option can be used to restore visibility of a hidden

selected part of the illustration
This button restores the illustration into original size.
Selecting this option lets you adapt the font size. Once
select, the below prompt appears:
Saves the current illustration as a screenshot.

Saves the current illustration as a black and white
screenshot.
Usually the 3D illustrations have a blue back-ground

but if needed that can be changed to white using this
option.
Selecting this option shows the center of the illustra-

tion. Once selected the option will be highlighted:
Rotates the figure.
Create an annotation on the existing 3-D figure.
Delete the created annotation on the existing 3-D fig-

ure.
Edit the created annotations.
Delete all the created annotations on the existing 3-D

figure.
This button allows you to filter the parts illustrated using

the given menu.

5.1.3.1 Display of illustrations:
In document view, while browsing a task it is possible to display an illustration while browsing the text by clicking on
the corresponding Ref. link:

This will display the illustration at the bottom at the test or open the sheet selection pop-up:

5.1.3.2 Caution while consulting a historic revision of a manual
If a user is consulting a historic revision of a manual, a warning message in bold orange color is displayed to alert the
customer that the revision is not the current one.
"Caution: This is not the latest document revision. Hyperlinks may lead to latest revision”

5.1.3.3 Consultation of a temporary revision
When a manual contains a temporary revision it is listed on the List of effective temporary revisions section located in
the Manual Front Matter:

5.1.3.4 Document View search

Currently airnav offers 4 different ways of searching:
1. Search at complete data base level (will be detailed in the Data search chapter)

5.1.3.5 URL and Bookmarks
X
With airnav it is now possible to bookmark favourite searches, filters or sections of a given manual (in this particular
case once a new revision is issued the bookmark may not work anymore i.e a suppressed task). The sections and
X
searches can be also shared among airnav users.
5.1.3.6 airnavX export function
5.1.3.6.1 P/N export
The list of P/N can be exported in csv format from the document view. The general P/N data list is located in the Man-
ual Front Matter:

5.1.4 Job Card printing

Manuals such as the AMM and TSM offers the possibility to print tasks as Job Cards. While consulting a task a simple
click on the will reveal the Job Card menu:

5.1.4.1 Job Card packages
The Job Card packages can be reached by clicking on the button located next to the Help Centre button on the top
right corner of the application.

5.2 DATA SEARCH

X
The Data search module of airnav allows the users to search within the content of the available technical data using
inbuilt filters (working context) and key words.
5.2.1 Data search working context

As explained in chapter 5.1.1 the working context filters differ from one section to another. In the data search module
the filters are listed as follow:
 Customization
 Aircraft types
 Tail Number - MSN - FSN
 Doc types
 ATA
 FIN

The following filters are interrelated on an up/down basis for the 3 first ones: Customisation  Aircraft type  MSN
hence:
 Selecting a customization will automatically refine the Aircraft type list and/or the MSN list.
 Selecting an Aircraft type will automatically refine the MSN list but not the customization one (however upon
selecting a wrong customization the A/C type and the MSN filters will be automatically removed).
On a down/up basis:
 Selecting a given MSN will automatically apply the corresponding Aircraft type filter but not the customiza-
tion one.
5.2.2 Data search function
X
The airnav Data Search function has been conceived to display the expected result within the first five hits of the list.
It will allow the user to search within the content of the available technical data using some predefined rules, the first
one being the working context (already detailed in the above chapter):

 By default the search will look for exact words(s) including common extensions (such as …tion, …ed,
…al…).
 Ex: Install  Install, Installation, Installed.
 The text entered in the search box is not key sensitive.
 Ex: Fuel  Fuel, FUEL, fuel…
 No automatic correction on mistyping
The search function also offers advanced wildcards features such as:
 The * will replace any placeholder (it is however impossible to use it in the middle of a term or at the begin-
ning):
 Ex: GPA110*  GPA1102-00, GPA1103-00, GPA1104-00…
 The “” will return the exact phrase between double quotes:
 Ex: “Fuel leak”  only results having the exact phrase between double quotes.
 Multiple word search will, by default apply an implicit “AND” or “+” connecter between each words:
 Ex: Fuel leak  only results with both Fuel AND leak will be displayed.
 The “-“ operator can be used right next to a term (no space) to exclude it from the search results:
 Ex: Landing -light  only the result with landing minus the one with light
 The logical connecter OR cannot be used as such but with the “|” character in order to display results with ei-
ther one of the words:
 Ex: Fuel | leak  results with one of the words.
 The parenthesis operator can be used to indicate the precedence of a word
 Ex: landing + (gear | light)  signify precedence for gear | light
NOTE 1: The ? (question mark) for 1 missing character cannot be used
NOTE 2: These tips can be retrieved by clicking on the button located on the left of the search box:

5.2.3 Data search results
As explained above the search engine’s aim is to provide relevant results within the five first search hits. It combines
two scoring methods to rank the search results:
1. TF/IDF: This score represent the ratio of the term frequency in the document and the term relevancy.
2. Manual scoring: The search engine looks for the term(s) in various places within the technical data documen-
tation, these places have been given a different scoring.
Note: Searching for a task/publication with its incomplete reference will not necessarily return the task/publication itself
but may return other items first because the search criteria is mentioned/called more time in these items. The search
results are displayed as follow:

5.2.4 Search/filter by FIN reference

In airnav data search it is also possible to search directly for FIN. This search can be performed either on the text
(content of a given manual) or within the illustrations (Schematic/Wiring).

Note: There’s a limitation with the FIN search, it does not search within the manuals illustrations (such as AMM,
IPC…) only in the Schematic/Wiring at the moment.

5.2.5 MSN comparison

This feature allows the end users to compare tasks between up to 3 MSNs. To do so user needs to proceed as follow:
1. While browsing a manual, click on the comparison tab after selecting the chapter. Below is an example for
TOWING AND TAXIING.

2. Select the MSNs that needs to be compared
Note: Please note the maximum MSN that can be compared is 3. This can be done as shown in the figure above. To-
ward the right top corner there is a plus button to add one more comparison box.

5.3 MY LIBRARY
My Library offers one single access point to list and download Airbus Technical documentation (Maintenance, Engi-
neering and Flight Operations). Field Loadable Software (FLS), airnavX intranet and standalone software are also
available for download.
The list of technical data available correspond to the user’s company access rights as defined by the Airbus technical
data contracts or Airlines’ delegations (for non-airline customers).
5.3.1 My Library working context

As explained in chapter 5.1.1 the working context filters differ from one section to another. In My Library the filters are
listed as follow:
 Customization
 Aircraft types
 Doctypes

5.3.2 Technical Data Documentation consultation in My Library
5.3.2.1 Consultation of current and previous revisions
To consult the current revision of technical data documentation, user can click on the Browse button ( ) the selected
manual will then be opened in a new Document View tab.
Note 1: In the Document View tab, consultation is only possible at node level.
The previous revisions can be consulted using the history button ( ).

5.3.3 Downloading manuals from My Library

The technical data documentation can be downloaded directly from My Library. However the user must be granted
with the “download right”. This right is not given “By Default” and shall be granted by the company User Entity Admin-
istrator (UEA) through the UMC tool.
5.3.3.1 Single download
To download a single item, the user has to click on the “download” button ( ) displayed along with the document.

Note: The previous revision of a manual can also be downloaded by clicking on the history button.

5.3.2.2 Multi-Download
In order to download multiple items, users can launch the search from the Multi-download view, select and download
the required manuals/software/attachments in a single package.
Note: As explained in chapter 2 java 32 bit is required to use the multiple download feature.

5.3.2.3 Selecting the relevant file format before downloading
Some manuals come in different file format (such as pdf, xml, sgml…). In order to find out which format is available to
download user can use the menu button ( ) located next to the manual name to display the list of available formats.
Then upon clicking on the download button this list will also be displayed to allow the user to select the relevant for-
mat.

5.4 TROUBLESHOOTING
The Troubleshooting module allows the user to find relevant fault isolation tasks using Fault codes, ECAM warning,
messages, etc. as inputs.
Note: An aircraft must be selected in the working context prior to launch any search.
5.4.1 Troubleshooting working context

In the Troubleshooting module the filters are listed as follows:
 Customization
 Aircraft types
 Tail number – MSN - FSN

Note: User can only select one aircraft applicability to use the troubleshooting function.

5.4.1 Looking for a troubleshooting task
In order to find the relevant troubleshooting task user can use the following fields (see Figure 30 and 31 below for de-
tails)
 1  Type: Eg: Full search, ECAM alerts, local effect, Fault message, crew/maintenance obs
 2  Fault code: A particular fault code can be entered to narrow down the search (For A350 and A380)
 3  Description: This field is used to search fault messages effects from their titles or panel designations (for
local effects)

5.5 ALLOWABLE PART CONFIGURATION (DEMO)

Allowable part configuration is a new airnavX online consultation service which provides a simple answer to customers
regarding parts allowed for installation on a given MSN, at a given position. It provides fresh data, updated on a
weekly basis for all aircraft family except the A300/A310. It can be accessed directly from its dedicated tab or by us-
ing its dedicated button ( ) while browsing manuals such as the IPC, MIPD and SR IPD.
The current version of Allowable Part Configuration is only a Demo and therefore all data dis-
played in the Allowable consultation service are provided for test purpose. It shall NOT be used to
ensure aircraft continued airworthiness.
The Entry into Service is scheduled for the first semester of 2019, at the time dedicated commu-
nications will be sent.

As explained in chapter 5.1.1 the working context filters differ from one section to another. In Allowable Part Configura-
tion the filters are listed as follow:
