COMMON LABORATORY EQUIPMENTS
Beaker glass It is used for containing
chemical reaction and collect liquid in titration experiment. Available in a wide range of sizes (usually 50, 100, 150, 250, 500, 1000 ml). not very accurate for measurement.
Erlenmeyer flask It is mostly used as a
container during heating and boiling. Available in a wide range of sizes (usually 150, 250, 500 ml). not very accurate for measurement, but better than beaker.
Florence flask It is mostly used as a
container during heating and boiling. Available in a wide range of sizes (usually 150, 250, 500 ml). not very accurate for measurement
Graduated cylinder It is used to measure volume
/measuring cylinder of liquid. Available in a wide range of sizes (from 5-1000 ml). better accuracy than beaker and flask.
Test tube It is mainly used to hold
small amount of liquid. It can Test tube holder also be used to react Test tube rack chemicals. In experiments that require heating, test tube holder is used to hold and move the test tube. Eye droppers It is used to transfer small amount of liquid with high Pipettes accuracy.
Funnel It is used to guide liquid or
powder into another container without spills.
Mortar and pastel It is used to grind chemicals
to finer powder.
24 well-plate It is used to hold liquid in
micro amount. Burette The set is used in quantitative chemical analysis (usually Clamp titration experiment) to Ring stand measure the volume of liquid with high accuracy
Spatula It is used to transfer powder.
Digital balance A device used to measure
mass of an object. In this lab, usually for chemicals or experiment involving density measurement.
