ASIS board certification gives you the edge you need to achieve your professional goals. Today’s employers are not
just seeking security professionals, but the proven knowledge or skill set of board-certified security practitioners.
Certification conveys professional competence and credibility, as well as a commitment to keeping current with the
profession’s best practices through recertification. There are attractive career opportunities for those prepared to
capitalize on the demand for board-certified professionals.
Government, military, and law enforcement personnel actively seek certification to advance within their organizations,
as well as to prepare for transition to the private sector.

Security is a global issue. ASIS certifications transcend industries, boundaries, and cultures. For multinational
organizations or agencies and the security practitioners they employ, it is crucial to have a common operating
language and to ensure compliance with the best industry practices.
Be confident in the knowledge that your ASIS board certification will

Why certify with asis?

Professional certification can profoundly shape and impact your career, so it is essential to evaluate certification
options carefully. A security certification that does not represent a meaningful measure of knowledge and skills is of
little value.
ASIS has set the standard for professional competency in the security industry since the establishment of the
Certified Protection Professional (CPP) credential more than 30 years ago. ASIS board certifications are valued
because they are earned. Applicants must meet stringent education and work experience requirements before being
approved to take the exam.
The independent Professional Certification Board (PCB) oversees
ASIS board certifications. Examinations are independently

organizations globally. Job analyses are continually performed to ensure certification
testing accurately reflects the most current requirements in
professional practice.
As the number of security certifications continues to grow, deciding which credential provides the best opportunity
and value becomes vitally important. Be sure to exercise due diligence when selecting a security credential.

ASIS board-certified staff delivers bottom-line benefits

for employers and business owners.
Manage your company’s security risks and build trust by hiring, advancing,
or contracting with ASIS board-certified practitioners. ASIS certification
provides independent validation of an individual’s knowledge, skills, and
abilities—confirming a professional’s competence and ability to meet the
demands of the job.
As a hiring manager or business owner, you’ll recognize the bottom-line
benefits and value of an ASIS board-certified practitioner or team across
your organization. A standard knowledge base and common language
among certificants strengthens performance and conveys conformance
to high professional standards. Continuing education requirements for
recertification offer assurance that practitioners will remain current with
best industry practices.
Companies who employ ASIS board-certified practitioners also have the
added protection from lawsuits involving ASIS certification that arise out
of an act of terrorism under the SAFETY Act Designation awarded to ASIS
by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
