Knowledge:  Identify what are the nutrional needs of adolescence.

Skills:  Create a slogan, poster, jingle or a role play about the “the importance
of eating nutritious foods.”
Attitude:  Appreciate the nutritional needs of adolescence and its importance.

Preparatory

The class will start with a solemn prayer through media presentation.

 Greetings
The teacher initiates greetings towards the students.

 Set of Reminders
The teacher will remind the students on the things needed to prepare
before the lesson. The teacher will impose the online class house rules.

 ENERGIZER
The students will execute the Galaw Pilipinas: DepEd National
Calisthenics Exercise Program.

 Motivation

The teacher will commence a game called a hunter game. The teacher
will present a word search and the student will hunt a word inside the
puzzle they have to find as many as they can inside the box. And then
the teacher will ask the following questions

Today, we are going to learn about the nutritional needs of adolescence.

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

 Identify what are the nutrional needs of adolescence.


 Create a slogan, poster, jingle or a role play about the “the
importance of eating nutritious foods.”
 Appreciate the nutritional needs of adolescence and its importance.

LESSON PROPER
Activity WEB CHARTING
The teacher will an activity called the Web Charting. The teacher will show a 2
pictures of a food and let the students identify and write in each picture what
they can say about the Foods in the picture.

(This activity was adapted from the American professor and science
researcher Joseph D. Novak and his team from Cornell University in
the 1970s.)
The teacher will discuss the following:

Why do we need to learn the right foods to eat during adolescence?

1. What is a growth spurt?

 It is a rapid growth period in a very short period of time.

2. What is the best way to make sure that teens are getting well the
nutrients needed?

3. “CORE FOOD GROUPS”

Vegetables
Glow foods
Fruits

Wholegrains  Go food

Meat, poultry, fish and eggs


Grow foods
Milk, yoghurt and cheese

4. Nutritional need and its importance.

 Proteins are of greatest importance in nutrition. Proteins are required for


bodybuilding and help in repair and maintenance of body tissues.
 Fats are high-energy foods and a source of energy. They also make the
food more palatable and provide fat-soluble vitamins.
 Carbohydrates form the major component of most diets and are the
main source of energy.
 Vitamins and minerals are required in small quantities. They do not yield
energy but enable the body to use other nutrients and also play an
important role in growth, repair and regulation of vital body functions.

 Requirements for iron and calcium are particularly increased in


adolescence, due to rapid physical growth during adolescence.
 Calcium needs during adolescence are greater than they are in either
childhood or adulthood because of rapid increase in lean body mass
and skeletal growth
 Zinc is especially important in adolescence because of its role in growth
and sexual maturation. Some sources of zinc are grains, nuts, meat,
cheese and milk.

After the discussion the students will have to give the example foods that
needs of an adolescence according to the following nutritions given below.
They have to write their answers in a ½ crosswise.

make a slogan, poster, jingle or a role play about “the importance of eating
nutritious food.” They will be given 1 minute to do it.
