Note : Apply heat to the connecting rod prior to installation of bearing for
piston pin. Do not use a torch to heat the connecting rod.
Distance between the center of the bore for the bearing for piston pin and the
E - - center of the bore for the crankshaft journal is
270.76 mm (10.660 inch).
Inside diameter of connecting rod for the bearing for crankshaft journal is

103.200 ± 0.013 mm (4.0630 ± 0.0005 inch).

Use the following procedure for tightening the bolts for the rod cap. Refer
Illustration 1 for tightening sequence.
1. Before assembly, lubricate the threads of the bolts and the seating face of
the bolt heads with clean engine oil.
2. Finger tighten all the bolts.
3. Tighten bolt 1 and bolt 3 to
70 ± 4 N·m (50 ± 3 lb ft).

Note : Use a paint stick to place an index mark on each of the bolts. Use the
index mark as a reference in order to torque the bolts for an additional angle.
5. Tighten bolt 2 and bolt 4 by an additional angle of 60 ± 5 degrees.
6. Again tighten bolt 1 and bolt 3 to
70 ± 4 N·m (50 ± 3 lb ft).
7. Tighten bolt 1 and bolt 3 by an additional angle of 60 ± 5 degrees.
