Have you ever wondered why someone acts a certain way? Have you ever wondered why
someone is very outgoing or shy? All of this comes back to the way that God created individuals
and their life experiences. God crafted each individual differently. From the methods, we
communicate with a favorite flavor of ice cream. With all this in mind, there can be a great
strength, freedom, and knowledge gained when individuals learn more about themselves. One
tool that people can use to do this is personality tests. Personality tests or assessments are a great
I took three personality tests in an attempt to understand more about myself and how I
function. The first test was the High-Five strengths test. This test asked questions about how I
performed in team environments and my perception of others. My results showed that my top
five strengths were Coach, Winner, Strategist, Story-Teller, Problem Solver. The coach's
strength shows that I excel in seeing where people are and how they can grow. The winner
strength shows that I thrive in situations where I can achieve and recognize my achievement. The
Strategist's strength shows that I am good at planning and ensuring that the plan follows through.
Then there is the story-teller strength, which shows that I can communicate with others and
engage them in conversation. Lastly, the problem solver straight indicates that I can help people
The next personality test I took was the Myers-Briggs type test. In this assessment, you
answer questions, and it gives insight into how your personality is built. For example, my
personality type is ESFP, which means that I have 41 percent extravert, 28 percent sense, 41
percent feeling, and 12 percent perceiving. I also found out that I have a moderate preference for
personalities and graded you on how accurate that trait is for your character. My top four
This helps me see that I am a strong personality that enjoys following the rules, but I can be
reasoned with.
Through taking these tests, I learned that I have a very strong personality. This allows me
to have the chance to step into leadership roles. I also have realized that I am a very analytical
thinker. I am great at problem solving and helping people work through issues that they
encounter in life. Some of my weakness though can also be my strong personality. If not handled
well, I can come across as aggressive and sometimes rude. I have to make sure that I am very
clear with my words and careful with my word choice. Another weakness I have is that I can be
very impatient. I tend to be a very fast paced person, and I have noticed that I tend to rush people
around me. I need to work on making sure that I have people enough time to fully comprehend
what I am saying and make sure that they are on the same page as me.
I think that other benefit highly from taking this test. These are great tools that
individuals can use to learn more about themselves, how they communicate with others, their
habits, and their weaknesses. I can testify that I have noticed things about myself that I would
have not noticed before if I had not taken this these tests. If we are able to understand all of these
fully, we can become much better leader, individuals in society, friends, and family members.
Companies should continue to use tests like these for their employees. I believe that it
helps employers and employees know themselves better. If employers are given the opportunity
to see into how their employees function, it allows them to know and understand their employees
better. When they understand and know their employees better, they are able to place them in
positions that they can excel in because they are aware of their strengths. Not only this, but it
also gives employers the chance to see who will and will not work well together.
Overall, these tests are very valuable tools that should continue to be used. Without tools
like these, we would not be able to understand ourselves or others to the full extent that we
should.
