Chemical Composition
The following table shows JIS SS400 steel chemical composition, please note that the carbon (C) content is not
specified in JIS G3101, only the phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) content.
Chemical Composition, %
Note: If necessary, alloy elements not listed in this table can be added.
Physical Properties
The following table shows JIS SS400 material properties, including density and specific gravity, melting point, specific
heat capacity, electrical resistivity, elastic modulus, thermal conductivity, linear expansion coefficient, Young’s
modulus, magnetic permeability, etc.
Notes:
10-6·K-1 = 10-6/K
1 Ω·mm²/m = 1 μΩ·m
1 g/cm3 = 1 kg/dm3 = 1000 kg/m3
1 GPa = 1 kN/mm2
1 MPa = 1 N/mm2

The following table shows SS400 material mechanical properties, such as yield point or yield strength (yield stress),
tensile strength and elongation.

Thickness Tolerance
The following table summarizes JIS SS400 steel thickness tolerances. With the consent of the delivery party, you can
limit the tolerance of this table to positive or negative. However, the total tolerance must be equal to the total tolerance
range in the table.
Notes:
If the thickness is 40 mm or more, the positive side tolerance can be relaxed through mutual negotiation.
The thickness of more than 350 mm should be agreed by both parties.
The width and thickness tolerance of 5000 mm depends on the agreement between the two parties.
