LESSON PLAN IN MAPEH (HEALTH) VI

Time: 1:10 – 1:50 pm

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, pupils are expected to get at least 80% rate of
accuracy:
a. Describe a healthy school and community environments
b. Identify the characteristics of the healthy school and community
environments

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

THE HEALTHY SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTS

 Activity Sheets
 Group Activity Envelope

B. References:
2nd Quarter, Module 1, MELC, Google images and pictures taken from the
community for indigenous purposes.

III. PROCEDURE:

a. Preparation
(Showing pictures about the different scenarios of school and environment.)
b. Motivation

What can you say about the pictures shown? Can you describe which of these
pictures are good to see? And which of these are not good? Can you describe a
healthy school and community environment?
Now let us arrange the pictures and let us see if what are the difference between
the pictures.
c. Statement of the Objective
As we go over our discussion, I hope, we can obtain this objective:
- We can describe the healthy school and community environments.
- We identify the characteristics of the healthy school and community
environments

d. Modelling
(Post pictures that show a healthy school and community environment.) Same
pictures shown in the preparation.
The pictures shown above are a sample of a healthy school and community
environment.
What are the characteristics of a healthy school and community environment?
According To the World Health Organization, some of the characteristics of a healthy
school and community environment are:
1. Clean and safe physical environment.
2. Meets everyone’s basics needs
3. Promotes social harmony and active involvement of everyone.
4. Have accessible health services and facilities
5. Takes part in identifying local problems and local solutions
6. Have sustainable use of available resources for all members of the community
7. Understands local health and environmental issues
The characteristics of t healthy school and community environments can be classified
into two. These are Physical Environment and Psychosocial Environment.
Physical Environment includes safe, clean, and good quality of air and water, visually
pleasing and with flexible spaces.
Psychosocial Environment includes a warm atmosphere, healthy interpersonal
relationships, and freedom from abuse discrimination.
e. Guided Practice
Give each each group a strip with a task written on it.
Group 1
Arrange the cut-out pieces to form the picture. Describe the picture and
tell whether it is healthy or not. After posting your work, shout HURRAH!!

Group 2
Describe your school surroundings and tell whether it is healthy or not.
Your answer will be in paragraph form and post it and yell POWER!!

Group 3
Give 5 sentences based on your description of Healthy Community
Environment based on where you lived in? Post your answer and say YEHEY!!

f. Generalization

Describes a healthy school and community environment


1. Clean and safe physical environment.
2. Meets everyone’s basics needs (Integrated to TLE – Home Economics)
- Food, house/shelter, water, clothes
3. Promotes social harmony and active involvement of everyone.
4. Have accessible health services and facilities
5. Takes part in identifying local problems and local solutions
6. Have sustainable use of available resources for all members of the community
7. Understands local health and environmental issues (Integrated to DRRM)
- Top 5 Hazards can be found and need to learn.
The characteristics of t healthy school and community environments can be
classified into two. These are Physical Environment and Psychosocial Environment.

Psychosocial Environment includes a warm atmosphere, healthy interpersonal

g. Independent Practice
Direction: Write True if it describes a characteristic of a healthy school and
community environment and False if it does not.
1. Free from harmful environment.
2. Polluted water source
3. Not enough space for children to play and move freely
4. Promotes social harmony
5. Participates in identifying solutions to community problems.

IV. EVALUATION

Directions: Write if it describes the characteristic of a healthy school and


community environment and X if it does not. Do it on a separate sheet of paper.
