Veritas Access Appliance: Cost-Optimized Long-Term Retention
Veritas Access Appliance: Cost-Optimized Long-Term Retention
Veritas Access Appliance: Cost-Optimized Long-Term Retention
OVERVIEW
The Access 3340 is deeply integrated with Veritas NetBackup™ and NetBackup
CloudCatalyst, providing a turnkey, cost-optimized LTR solution for large-scale
(PB) deployments where Veritas NetBackup is the primary backup utility.
3. Save Money with Intelligent Data Tiering—Access Appliance delivers the performance required by demanding long-term retention
SLAs, and policy-driven tiering to/from public or private clouds optimizes the total cost of ownership (TCO).
4. Deploy with Confidence—Storage software is in our DNA. Today, Veritas has the #1 worldwide market share in backup and
recovery, archiving software and management software-defined storage (SDS) for 2017 by revenue.1
5. Reduce Management Costs—Use a single pane of glass to manage multiple instances, including integration with Veritas NetBackup
and Veritas Enterprise Vault.
Access Appliance fills a cost/performance gap between costly primary storage and economic (but lower-performing) secondary
storage like tape and public cloud. It allows large (PBs) of cost-effective, on-premises storage while giving administrators a much lower
RTO (Recovery Time Objective). In short, the appliance provides performance comparable to primary storage with the cost profile of
tape or cloud.
IMPROVE TCO WITH NETBACKUP INTEGRATION
Veritas Access Appliance can be an optimized primary or secondary target for NetBackup. If you’re using NetBackup software on
your own hardware, Access Appliance becomes a highly cost-effective primary target for deduplicated NetBackup backups. If you’re
combining Veritas appliances, the NetBackup Appliance is a high-performance primary store complemented by a cost-effective,
dedupe-capable secondary store in Access Appliance. Regardless of the deployment, enterprises enjoy a single-vendor, end-to-end
solution—with the efficiency of deduplication and compression maintained throughout the data lifecycle.

Netbackup
Access Appliance enables enterprises to embrace cloud adoption, with the ability to leverage on-premises private cloud or a range
of off-premises cloud service providers as a low-cost storage tier. Cloud tiering gives IT professionals the tools to meet performance
requirements while using automated tiering to orchestrate data migration of colder data to lower-cost media.
